Guest Control

Call me a purist (because I am!), but I hate, HATE, *HATE* that attractions CMs from around the park work Guest Control on Main St in whatever costume they were wearing. Particularly because DLR prides itself on its historical nature with the company, and is rich in tradition, seeing someone in a Jungle, Pirates, or (even better) Toon Town working on Main St is jarring. That, and they're lousy at Guest Control. I think they should give it back to Main St Merchandise, or at least require that CMs change into a Main St area costume (Costume Issue is right behind Main St). Does this bother anyone else?

A purist in what sense? How far back are you going as a point of reference?

I ask because I have a color slide my Dad took during the summer of 1976 of America On Parade that shows two guys in Jungle Cruise uniforms working the crowd control ropes near the Camera Store on Main Street USA. The pic is of my Aunt Ingrid, and it's one of my favorite pictures of her because she is cracking up laughing in the shot, but behind her on the sidewalk are two Jungle Cruise Skipers waving their arms to try and keep the sidewalk crowds on the east side of Main Street moving. It's obviously been a standard practice for at least 30 years.
