:D

Dates aren't set yet but it will most likely be 3/20 - 3/24 or 3/25. Anyways, I'm having trouble picking a hotel. There's six of us going, so we'll need two rooms or a suite. Right now I'm trying to decide between three hotels -- the Candy Cane Inn, the Anaheim Residence Inn by Marriott, or the Paradise Pier Hotel (GCH and DLH aren't available on my dates).

I know where the Candy Cane Inn is (very close) but I'm not sure about the hotel quality. How is it there?

If we stay at the Residence Inn we'd only need one room, but I'm not sure how far away it is from the entrance. Is it within walking distance?

Also....we're taking a day trip up to USH. Anyone know how much it'd cost to get there in a taxi?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Hooray!! :sohappy: Maybe an excuse for another meet? ;)

I can't really help ya on hotels, cause I rarely stay in them.

As far as taking a taxi to USH, I wouldn't - it'd be a pretty expensive drive. It's a good 45 minutes to an hour north, give or take, depending on traffic.

Yeah, I guess it would be pretty expensive...

I just e-mailed the Candy Cane Inn if they had any shuttles to the park. I believe it would be cheaper to rent a car for a day, though I don't believe there are any rent-a-car places around the area. I know if you book a hotel/ticket package on disneyland.com, you can order USH tickets with transportation, so there has to be some type of shuttle the DL area hotels use to take you up there (they've got one for KBF so there should be one for USH too).

I stayed at the PPH in Feb 2003 and really enjoyed it. I had an upper theme park view room (was suppoed to have a standard city view, but they upgraded me). The hotel is probably even nicer now with the renovations being done. I also went up to USH during my trip. I was able to go to the WDTC in Downtown Disney and buy passes to take the shuttle coach bus. That bus picks you up in the morning from your hotel and brings you back to the Coach USA depot. From there you will board a charter bus to USH. The buses are very comfortable and the driver did provide us with a lot of interesting information and tidbits about LA, Hollywood, and California in general. The bus picked up us 30 minutes after park closing and brought us directly back to our hotels.

Hotels - I am in the same boat as Kirsten but I hear great things about Candy Cane - never heard a bad review. If it is cheaper then I would say Candy Cane. I like Residence Inns for the feel of the rooms; suites rather then just rooms.

Rentals - Enterprise commercials say they pick you up. Also, there used to be an Alamo just past Harbor and Katella (on Harbor.) They operate out of a hotel but cannot remember which one exactly. I used to get cars from there. You are at OC #1 vacation spot; you can get a car if you want.

TTA gave you info on shuttles.

And be sure to let us know when you are coming. I am sure Kirsten and I can rustle up a few more West Coasters.

Candy Cane Inn is right next to the parks and very nice. It is our favorite off site hotel. It is faster to walk to and from the parks than take the shuttle they have. It is right on the corner and borders the Timon parking lot by DCA. I actually prefer Candy Cane Inn over Paridise Pier because the walk for Cany Can Inn I think seems a little shorter and it is so much cheaper. Candy Can feeds you breakfast every morning, has a pool and hot tub and the rooms are nice.

Alright --- just booked! :sohappy:

Not staying at the Candy Cane Inn though....this trip's hotel will be the Best Western Anaheim Inn. We leave PBI at 8:20am on March 20th and get into SNA at 1pm. After checking into the hotel we'll go over to DCA for the rest of the day. USH on Monday (already booked the transporation to get there as well), DCA/DL on Tuesday, DL again on Wednesday, and then we're leaving Thursday morning at 11:45.

Thankfully this time around, no attractions will be down (on my last trip IJA was sadly closed). Looking forward to it! :D
