Guaranteeing an RoE reservation?

Hey all!

Everyone's been really helpful with information thus far and I just had another question:

My girlfriend and I want to have dinner at the Rose and Crown by the water and stay to watch RoE. Is there any way you can guarantee that you will be by a window table and still seated by the time the fireworks begin? I mean, I guess we could just sit there and draw out dessert and all that, but I was wondering if there is a specific protocol that will enable you to be seated with a good view and in time for the show. Any information is much appreciated.

Thanks!

I do not believe that individually specific tables can be reserved. However, you may want to ask your hostess if a table is available with your desired view at the time of your arival.

I would recommend asking for a table about 30 minutes before ROE is due to start - unless its peak time you should be seated by the time it starts. HOWEVER - The Rose and Crown operate a policy that you are allocated the next available table that will seat your party - whether that is inside or outside is the luck of the draw.
No amount of bribery will assist !!

Because of the huge amount of people asking for water-view tables, the Rose & Crown has stopped taking requests for those tables. They no longer allow you to wait. You will be seated at the first available table for your party size, period. It's luck of the draw as to whether you'll be seated outside on the patio.

If you do get seated inside, they do have a nice viewing area they will lead you to. About 5 minutes or so to the show you can go and stand in the little area provided for inside diners.

When you book a evening meal at the Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room you will be quoted the following official spiel...

"Due to overwhelming demand, request for outdoor or special seating such as fireworks viewing cannot be accepted. You will be seated at the first table available for your party size."

Your best bet is to book for a time early enough to full enjoy your meal and finish before Illuminations begins.

We ate there a few years ago and this is what I saw happen. We didn't care about staying for Illuminations on this particular night so we booked an earlier dinner, 6ish. We were seated outside. There was a large group seated near us outside. I think there were about 12 in their party. They had planned on keeeping their table all night. They had ordered a few rounds of drinks while we were there and overheard them talking about how they were going to stay all night. Some people in their group would come and go, but as long as they were ordering drinks (and appetizers as we were leaving) they were not going to be asked to leave. DH and I had given them some credit for thinking of this, but I'm not sure if they had planned it before hand or just decided it when they got such a great spot on the patio.

We were told that you could only keep the table for 2 hours, regardless of how much you ordered. They informed us this was a new policy. We thought we had hit the jackpot this last vacation because we had scored an outside table at 6:30 pm. Was not to be.
