Grocery Question

OK, next Monday we arrive!! We are taking a shuttle directly from the airport to the Contemporary. We are not renting a car so we will be calling the contemporary home (in every way) for 5 nights.

We are straying on the 12th floor (tower club) and our room has fridge BUT where can get things like bottled water, wine, beer, juice, etc? Everyone I talked to said BRING YOUR WATER WITH YOU when you go to the parks or you will pay $3 per bottle. My question... does the "store" in the contemporary sell all this stuff and what are the prices like? Is a $10 bottle of wine $25 ? :hammer:

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks,
-Henri

The stuff in the stores at the resorts is the same prices you'll pay at the parks. Since you aren't taking a vehicle, you won't be able to run to the grocery store to stock up, so I'd just buy one expensive water bottle and refill it in the water fountains to save money. Either that or pack one bottle per person in the suit cases and refill those. We usually take a trip to the grocery store, but we always have our vehicle. I don't know what to tell you about the wine.

Never stayed on site so I can't comment there, but some shuttle/limo type services will stop by a grocery store on the way to the hotel. If you have already booked the service, see if they can do this for you. If you have not booked, do so with one that does - such as the sponsors of this site:

there USED to be a store at the Marketplace, but I believe that is gone now. You can go over to the Boardwalk, and then hike a little bit to the gas station there. There is also one accross from Pleasure Island, too. That is just a convenience store, but it is not quite as bad as the gift shops.

Heading for the great escape.
I thought the supermarket at crossroads was a little Disney influenced price wise. If you have no transport your stuck, Walmart being the cheapest but a good 10mins drive away.

There's a Publix not far, either. But again it is alittle harder to get to than something on site. Goodings is expensive, but not as bad as anything on site. First time I had ever been in a carpeted market before.

Anyway, the Publix I know is on the corner of 192 and 535. But it is definitely farther than walking distance. I also heard they were building a Publix just up the street somewhere.

There is a Publix 1/2 mile East on 192 from the entrance to WDW. It is a regular, kind of smaller Publix but REGULAR PRICED and has a pretty good wine section and a lot of individual sized stuff like single drinks and single portion foods. We usually shop there, makes me feel like I'm at Disney and not the Publix 2 miles away:animwink: Anyhow, I know that Goodings DELIVER and so do a couple of grocery stores, it cost $10 but its worth it. 6 pack of budlight at Contemp liquor $11.50. I believe a 1/5 of Absolut was $20.

Forgot about the store at Fort Wilderness. Again, DEFINITELY disney prices, but it is easy to get to - just take the boat or a bus over to Fort Wilderness.

Oh, and a $10 bottle of wine is AT LEAST $25.

Yea, I figure since I mortgaged the farm for this trip I better not send my self into bankruptcy by way of wine and bottled water

Thanks for all the help everyone!
