Hey everyone!

I've been observing the forum for over a year now and thought why not finally post something and introduce myself!
I am a very big theme park enthusiast and especially the Disney Parks and I try to visit all of them as often as possible (not as often as I would like to due to the lack of money, sadly ;))
Hopefully I can contribute some interesting stuff and I look foward to hear new rumors and learn new things about WDW and the great people in this forum every day.

Greetings from cold and rainy Germany!

Welcome!

And congratulations on having visited all the Disney parks in the world -- a pretty rare achievement, even around these parts!

It's great to be able to compare the attractions and entertainment at different Disney parks, and I'm sure your contributions in this regard will be much appreciated by the folks on these boards.

As a theme park enthusiast, how do you feel places like Europa-Park and Phantasialand compare to the Disney parks? Are they worth a visit for someone who loves theme parks and who's a first-time visitor to Germany?

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome :)
I'm very lucky to have a family that travels a lot and also an older Disney-fanatic brother who taught me to love everything about Disney and the Parks.

I've never been to Europa-Park but several times to Phantasialand because it's near my hometown. In the last few years they improved a lot and got some pretty fun and well themed attractions. Some of them are basically Disneypark-clones with a different theming but it is really nice to see that they put some thought and love into german theme park attractions, too. They copy a lot from the US parks but as long as it improves the park in general it's fine with me :) They have something that looks exactly like Spaceship Earth but smaller and golden. There used to be a Star Tours kind of ride in it sponsored by a german airline.

Europa-Park is supposed to be one of the best if not the best german theme park though more thrillride wise than because of theming. I always wanted to go but it is pretty far from where I live.
And don't bother to visit Movie Park. It's horribly bad sadly.

I hope you'll have a great time if you come visit Germany and some of our theme parks! :)

Thanks for the advice! Many of the attractions at Phantasialand look very well themed -- I'm particularly interested in Maus au Chocolat, which has a nicely detailed queue, and (to me) a more interesting theme than Toy Story Midway Mania. The two hotels there are very appealing as well, with a level of detail that seems to match, if not surpass, many of Disney's stateside resorts.

I'm hoping to visit Germany next year. If I make it to the theme parks, I'll be sure to write up a trip report when I return.
