Great Movie Ride Question

Did the Great Movie ride used to have two trains go on the tour at the same time because I remember the trains being longer. I also remember being at the Wizard of Oz Scenes and the End Movie and having two trains being there. If it was in fact like this does anyone know why it stopped?

Yes there were two. My guess is that it is more economical to run one because when you have two, one will get the shoot out with the 1930's gansters and the other with the cowboy's. The one with the cowboys has sort of an explosion and flames coming out one of the windows and I would imagine that is more expensive to run. They most likely do run two during peak times (Thanksgiving, xmas, spring break).

Did you go in the value season? Most likely they were only running one train because they didn't need to run more than one. I went only about a month back and they had both trains going.

That might explain it because when i saw two running it was on new years at the Millenium Celebration. Thanks a lot. I was curious.:wave:

They were running two trains when I went during the first week of June. As stated before, it's probably based on crowd numbers.

It's a shame they solo one goes via the gangster scene as the cowboy one is IMHO better. The explosion is very dramatic when the heat blast hits you.

Yes, I believe so, because we have always been in the gangster one when there has been one train.

The Great Movie Ride has a cowboy scene instead of the Gangster one. Wow. I never new that because I have never seen this scene. When I was there a week ago, I saw the Gangster one.

If they have both vehicles running, head for the front one to see the cowboy scene.

It isn't just time of year for when they run single cars thru the attraction. It also depends on time of day, if the cars are working, and staffing. By doing single cars they space out the cars a bit so there less wait time between loads and people get to see some of the preshow.

Actually, it's the front train that goes to the Cowboy scene when there's two trains running. If they're only running one train, I'm not sure where it stops on the loading dock.

I must have been on the GMR at least 20 times, and I have NEVER seen the cowboy scene!:hammer:

Will make a point of trying to score seats on the front car during our next visit (honeymoon:sohappy: ).

The Cowboy scene is far superior to the Gangster scene.

I've seen both. When we went last month they were running both "trains" and the crowds were super light.

I was just there 2 weeks ago and indeed at the end where you sit and watch the movie clips there were two cars

Was just there last tuesday Oct 18th. Both tracks were running and my group had the cowboy scene.

I was there on the Sunday before the hurricane hit (The Day Before) and that is the time it wasn't running both...just one.
