So this is a bit obscure, but I remembered recently after going over some James Bond history videos...
MGM Studios distributed the official James Bond series, however in the more recent GMR movie finale where it had clips from several films, they show a brief glimpse of Sean Connery in the UN-official Never Say Never Again film, which was made due to a long running dispute (which you can read about elsewhere). It's pretty easy to notice as Sean Connery is MUCH older in that film which was made in the early 80's.
Perhaps since the agreement ended with MGM's sponsorship, they couldn't or wouldn't use one of those film clips from the official James Bond series.
It's all closed now, but just thought it was interesting.
