I guess this is the correct forum to post this...
I’m a big fan of the GMR...love the By A Waterfall sequence in the beginning.
I know some of you might have ride through videos of the ride where you can see this first segment of the ride. Well, after doing a little research, I found out that when the ride initially opened in 89-90, the By A Waterfall sequence was supposed to be a "jaw dropper".
The "cake" used to rotate with water effects to mirror what one would see in Footlight Parade.
Apparently, the By A Waterfall segment has consistently deteriorated to what it is today.
I found a 1990 video clip of the ride on YouTube.com . You can see the "cake" rotation was already taken out. But, at least it wasn't behind a scrim with intermittent rotating projections as it is today.
