I recently stayed at Kidani village from 12/8 - 12/12. Our return flight was at 630am which means we had to be by the front desk to leave at 230. As we were heading out we found a bedbug on the pullout couch. We immediately called the front desk. They had a manager and pest control expert come to our room. They took all of our baggage and sent it out to be cleaned. The manager opened up the Jambo house gift shop so that the 4 of us could get new clothes. They then paid for a taxi to get us to mco on time. One night of our stay was refunded and they gave me a free 3 night stay at any resort with park tickets. Obviously this can happen anywhere and it isn't their fault. But I will say that the woman who helped us went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. It's things like this that show how different Disney is from other places. She really showed genuine care for us. Can't wait for my next trip back.

Ohhhh.. what a horrible thing to encounter on your way out. Disneys been very accommodating to guests that have encountered bedbugs and theyve worked hard to keep them out but there have been occasional reports of finds. Fortunate you spotted it and they acted on cleaning your items and compensated you. When checking into any room, Disney included, its wise to check the beds and areas out before unpacking just to be safe.
Maybe with letting dogs on property theyll get themselves a bed bug detector dog on staff.

but there have been occasional reports of finds.
You would be amazed at how often they are found, but mostly by mousekeeping and other staff and they do a tremendous job of reporting and eliminating the problem until the next guest brings them in. With that many rooms and large numbers of guests and guest turnovers this is to be expected. Being on alert for bedbugs and taking action immediately is one thing the Disney resorts do very right. If you knew just how often they are brought into the rooms your mouth would fall to the floor, but thanks to the action plans in place to fix the problem, most guests will never notice or be effected.

People carry them in from the outside and then it becomes disneys problem unfortunately. All you can ask when it happens is the response is the good and proper one. They did the right thing.

So did they send your luggage back home to you after it was cleaned or were they able to get it all done before you left MCO? Have to say that I'm impressed with how WDW handled your situation. With all the complaints I read on the the threads recently, it's refreshing to see some of the "old" customer service still lingers!

Disney has bed bug dogs but they also have a lot of rooms. I ran a hotel near Disney and we got a bed bug room every other month. It is just part of running a hotel. They don't grow due to bad conditions. People usually bring them. Most people have no clue how to look for them. Go to the corner of the bed that is farthest from your air unit ( they like cold), and turn back all the covers. If you see bed bug residue it will usually be in the corner of the mattress near the folds. You will see black specks. That being said, bed bugs need to be in a room 3 to 5 days before you will notice this. I stayed in a four seasons in NYC and we had a bedbug room. They handled it very well, but like I said it happens in all hotels. People choose a good hotel for their destination, but sometimes skimp on their travel hotel. I will not say that Disney has the best system for bed bugs but what they have is great. They actually have ovens that they put the beds to cook the bugs. BTW heat is the only real way to kill them, don't let anyone tell you they will spray. When we had an issue we would have pest control bring in huge heaters and cook the room. Let this be my bedbug CSA :)

This happened at 230am and our flight was for 630am so they shipped everything back to me using UPS.
