Grand Floridian Opinion

Hi All-

We're going to be staying at the GF end of feb/beginning of mar. and need some info/opinions on the rooms. Currently we have a standard garden view room but were considering an upgrade.
We thought about going concierge, but according to some reviews on other sites, concierge here needs some help and many people were unhappy or unthrilled by it. Any info on that?
also, we were thinking about possibly upgrading to a bigger room.. My wifehas her heart set on a jacuzzi/whirlpool tub. Are there any rooms at GF with that feature and if so are they only concierge level and do you think its worth the upgrade or should we just stick with what we have?
Thought?
thanks.

We have stayed at the GF many times and have had several types of rooms. We usually get the garden view rooms when it is just my husband and myself. When we took my mom and nephew, we did the water view and requested a view of the castle (they luckily honored that request) so that we could watch the fireworks and water pagent from the room at night. Of course, you can easily pop down to the dock at night and see them also, very nice view of the fireworks. The concierge I think did need some help when we last stayed there. I don't know the specifics as to if or how it has improved. We were a bit disappointed with our experience, but that was about 3 or 4 years ago. That pretty much turned us off to doing concierge at the GF again. I thought that they regular rooms, whether water or garden view, were much nicer than most rooms on property anyhow. The resort is so upscaled to begin with, I doubt you would be disappointed with any room selection you get. Even the garden view rooms have wonderful views. No parkinglot rooms that I know of here...

I would say that if you really want to have that concierge experience...then go for it, but the cost is much more for the rooms then a regular garden view. That is just my opinion...seeing how we mostly use our room to just :snore: in. As far as I can remember, the rooms that offer jacuzzi/whirlpools are going to be in the suite categories. I think you can request a room called the "Honeymoon Room", if they still call them that. These are concierge rooms that have the tubs your wife is looking for. I have absolutely no idea how it effects the rates ([probably not favorable). Also, if you choose to stay in a regular room, which is what we usually do...we always request the Sugar Loaf Building...it is one of the nicest ones and has all great views. Also surprise your wife and ask for a top floor room in the outer buildings. They have a vaulted ceiling that really addes to the atmosphere. I know this is alot to digest, but I hope it helps some. Feel free to PM me if you need any additional help. We just love this resort, our all time favorite. If you haven't stayed here before, I doubt any room would disappoint you. Have a fantastic trip!!!

I thought the GF was nice the few times I stayed there. I did stay in concierge (main building) once. I made friends with a CM who used to work there. She said that it is no where as nice as it was when I experienced it. In fact morale dropped so bad that she took another position. They cut corners a lot since then. In other words it doesn't sound like it is worth it for the concierge. I would suggest skipping it, but enjoying the rest of the resort which is beautiful.

Glad to help wherever I can. Do ask about the top floor rooms with vaulted ceilings. It isn't anymore money, but sure does make the room feel more spacious and lends to the atmosphere. Have a wonderful triip.:)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that part. I'm all for the suggestion to ask for a top floor room. They were very cool.

The dormer rooms on the top floor rock!! It really adds to the atmosphere. If you don't want to shell out the extra money, stick with your current ressie and when checking in, inquire if there are upgrades available. You never know! If its not busy, they may upgrade you to a lagoon view room which would be nice. Honestly, this is now our favorite Disney resort. Its just that beautiful.
