Government Closure and the parks...?

Bear in mind I have no idea how American politics or finances work....

But the world news headlines are awash with this Government Closure business. I also read how major attractions are being closed, or only partially open.

Given this, what is the current state of attractions around Orlando? I guess WDW would be unaffected, but I did hear of restricted opening at Kennedy.

Anyone know anything....?

I can see some possible effects, but they would be kind of 3 steps removed.
1. A lot of workers have had any leaves/vacation days suspended until further notice.. Many Disney vacations may have to be delayed/cancelled until they know if they get any vacations at all.
2. Many workers will not be getting a paycheck. This could also lead to Disney vacations being cancelled/postponed, etc.
3. National Monuments/Parks will be shut down, this may affect the vacation plans of foreign visitors, who may decide to postpone vacations if they included other sites like this.
So I could see Disney making a bit less, and the parks being slightly less crowded, but that's all I can think of at the moment. This also depends on how many people that fall into these categories had planned Disney vacations in the first place, so it could be anywhere from "slight change in numbers" to "huge", depending on how long the shutdown goes on, as well.

Keep in mind that in America, the federal US government and the various state governments (like Florida's) are separate entities.

With few exceptions, all important Disney World/government relationships are at the state and local level.

While there might be some tertiary effects on the theme park industry if the federal shutdown is prolonged, it's not going to effect Disney World on a day-to-day basis.

How could the government screwing up and shutting its doors have any effect on Disney?
It would not really affect Disney directly, but there are a number of places in the area that it will and has affected. KSC is closed as are the few National Parks around Orlando.

Fair point. I guess if this continues much longer then it could start really affecting Disney to some degree. Of course if it keeps going like this then I'm doing what I have always wanted to do and move to the UK. :D
