I have ransacked the forums and I can not find out exactly what, and where this gossip phone is. I know it is somewhere on Main Street USA. Does anybody have an exact location and description of this alleged "gossip phone"? LOL thanks I would appreciate replies.:animwink:

I found it on my last trip in March. Let's see if I can remember exactly where it was...

As you're walking along Main Street toward the castle, you will pass the little side street on the right hand side. It is in the very first store after that side street and it is mounted on a wall next to one of the cash registers.

I think that was where it was located. Hope that helps.

You hear some woman gossiping about people. I don't remember any exact quotes but I think one of the things was she was shocked that someone she knew spent a certain amount of money on some cigars. Something about how his money went "up in smoke" or some cute little thing like that. It's just a bunch of cute little things like that.

I say get a spot for the parade near there, then have your friends/family hold your spot and go get a quick listen. It's cute.

Please don't think I'm trying to talk down to anyone, but in case some don't understand the concept of the gossip phone, let me explain.

Since Main Street is themed around the turn of the 1900's, phones at that time were wired on an open line that was shared with many other households (for those who know more about phone systems than I, please forgive any inaccurate terms). It was very common to pick up the receiver, and hear someone else talking. They could hear you, as well, if you made any noise.

Once again, Disney wanted one more small detail in place to present the proper theme in Main Street.

They were called "party lines." We had one. You were not guaranteed a dial tone when you picked up the receiver.

It was a big deal when we got a private line.

(Then again, it was also a big deal when we finally got a color TV)

Yup, I'm old.........
