Good Morning Folks...Spoke to friends this morning who have just returned from their 3rd Disney vacation in 3 consecutive years..All at POFQ...However his was their first trip in July ( Last two in October ) Never again they said..No not WDW..July....Here's their reasons...Way too hot ( Humidity ) Way too many thunderstorms..and last, way too many South American tour groups...They are booking Mexico for next year but planning a WDW return in 2015 but in October..They told me even if they were offered a deluxe resort free upgrade in July, they would opt for POFQ in October..WoW! :jawdrop:...Was it that bad..This has convinced me that October will be our month in 2015..So has anyone done a July trip and an October trip, and how different was it.? Heat...Crowds..Rain...etc.

Much different...crowds are at least cut in half in October...sometimes non-existent. Although, October can be quite warm and even hit 90s, the humidity may not be near as bad, and the evenings will cool substantially. We love late September/October in the parks. Also, July doesn't have MNSSHP or F&W.

Watch which week in October, many of the North Eastern US states have a school break, which is often the same week as the UK half term. That week can be very busy in Disney, although it doesn't seem to affect Universal quite as much.

As a Florida native...I can tell you it is vastly different. July is hot, humid, and very crowded. I can't comment on the tour groups (seems like there's never an "off" time for them), but I can say American kids are out of school so this is a popular vacation time for them. The July weather is hot, very humid, and we do have pop up thunderstorms frequently...usually in the afternoons. We don't go in July.

October....ahhhh. I LOVE Walt Disney World in October. It is probably my favorite time to go. Weather is typically mild with little rain. Every so often we can have a weird year that is either hotter than normal (but still way better than July) or cooler than normal but even then it's still pretty comfortable. :). American kids are back in school so it's not as crowded...even though there are some folks like me who will pull the kids out of school for a few days of family time.

October is also great because there are several great events going on. Epcot's Food & Wine Festival is my favorite!!! I'm so disappointed to miss it this year...we'll be there in November. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party takes place on selected nights at Magic Kingdom.

I'm not really sure many people would go in July if they had the choice. It generally comes down to coinciding with school holidays etc. There are very few upsides to a trip in July other than perhaps the July 4 fireworks and great temperatures for waterparks.

As we have had to cancel Oct this year I haven't even considered any other time of year to rearrange to, we have found our time of year and there is no point changing now. Even if we have got another year to wait! Oh yes has anyone mentioned the F&W and MNSSHP. LOL

I did a last week of July first week of August trip with DS. The Brazilians were out in force. We had to make strategic alterations to our park plans to avoid the worst of them and forced to tolerate the behavior of the rest we couldnt avoid. The humidity and heat was bad, I would go back to the resort for a change of shirt and quick shower in the middle of the day. The rain wasnt bad at all though on that trip, barely a storm interfered with our fun. When it did rain it was quick and over with, mostly though we lucked out because we happened to be inside as they started. October is a much better time to go all around. Cooler, less crowded, meand more chance to ride. I would have avoided the July/August trip if I could have and opt for ANY other month but it was the only time DS could have gone.

I wish I could go in October but I can't take the time off from my job then. I agree July in Florida is hot and humid, but really what are they expecting out of Mexico it will be hot and humid then too especially if it is in July.

I've only ever been in July and August- I would like to go at Christmas! However, I have friends who went to WDW last October and they loved it because the days were warm (80's) and the nights were cooler, and it wasn't too crowded. I can't go that time of year but I'd like to get to the Food and Wine Festival someday!

I live in Mass and the kids in the North eastern part of the states go back to school first week in Sept and they do not have break until thanksgiving (four days only) the next break is Christmas. So there would be no influx of American students in the park in October

We are headed down from CT for 10/5 -10/12 because of the smaller crowds, drier weather and all the events. I relied heavily on the crowd calendars from sites and this site. Sounds great and honestly, after hearing horror stories of weather, tour groups, etc- that was one of the only weeks that made sense.
