Good news for Disney

thats great news for disney and us who love disney.

i think over the next couple of years disney will shine again not just doing better(which any thing would be better) but being the disney i learned to love and respect. just like after a real bad time from walts death from the time eisner came aboard and made disney what it is today-if not mistaken even though disney stock is only around the $21 mark in 1984 it was around $5 so it has grown in great value.
i think when the economy gets back on track and travel begins again i think this will happen by 2003.
in whole the company will realize its major mistakes it has made since around 1999 and that combined with sept 11 will make them hopefully never let these mistakes ever happen again.
eisner is truly whole heartily embarresed of this year(the worst in his tenure as ceo).
by 2003----
a-travel will resume as usual and towards the latter part of the year the 100 year bash will really draw crowds with extensive marketing programs and ads-that will be blitzed on abc,abc family, espn also with disney getting nba game rights will add even more exposure to addional veiwers.
b-disney will fix most or all of califonia adventures problems!-i think this was a huge slap in disneys face and eisner is not happy at all-the park is doing ok but not anywhere disney wanted it to do.i think disney will have to totally redo major parts of the park with adding at least one or 2 e-rides.
c-toyko disneyland and disney sea will keep doing really well with maybe a 3rd park there as well as disneyland paris with positive comp sales up by about 40 percent with rthe addition of disney studios.keep in mind there is a project right now in the close by town to make a "celebration" type town with a shopping and residential district as well.the town will have homes and apartments just like celebration in fla.
d- i think there will be a major ad blitz starting around 2005 for hong kong.
e- i think there will be major tv specials on abc primetime and weekends for disney theme parks world wide.i think we will see more britney spears and back street boys type concerts at lower performing parks like at dca and animal kingdom.
f- i think disney will come up with a "real life" type show that will every week have a cast member followed at a certain park-ie this week follow mike a monorial driver at wdw and next week spend a day with ming a gardener at tokyo disneyland-the show starts off with them getting up delaing with rush hour traffic clocking in getting clocked in etc and how they spend their day and showing them dealing with irate guests etc.
g-i think disney will have another lion king (dollar wise) hit in the next 2 years.
h- disney cruise line will expand to 5-7 ships with destinations on the west coast with a hub near disneyland to tie in disney land land/sea packages.
i- i think once disneys store stabalizes with its 400 us/canada stores and 150 international stores-it will have all of its stores remodeled to the new format like cherry hill and cotsa mesa.i dont think disney will open any more stores maybe a few in hot areas but will stay at the numerb they will have but will market themselves better and u will see commercials on abc and the disney channel and abc family with a lot of exposure that will in turn allow disneys store to be again doing really well and very profitable with most stores or all having positive comp sales by about 40 percent

last but not least i thin we will see a major player in the disney team leave or get fired.
i think eisner will stay- i wonder about pressler. i really think hes on eisners list. eisner, as much as i love the man is arrogant and does not like to be embarresed and dca and the parks have embarresed him in many occasions. i think al weiss or cynthia harris will be made chairman disney attractions.

lets hope im right about all this
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm all for Cynthia Harris...I say, let Pressler work with merchandising at the parks...he seems to be good with that. By the way, it's good to have an arrogant CEO. It means we get better stuff.

That all depends on the economy...

My wife and I were laid off, and now four of my friends have all lost their jobs this week. If this is the economy getting better, I'd hate to see a depression.

I live in the Chicagoland area, and everyone in my group has a wealth of skills, but no one's hiring at all!

I'm hoping the poor economy doesn't cripple Disney, who's apt to make the wrong mistakes and cuts to cover for its losses.

If Disney wants to recover quickly, they should ditch the ineffective security teams stationed at every entrance, and concentrate on upgrading/maintaining their parks. Plus, shoot the people who greenlight movies like Bubble Boy, that do more harm than good...

I don't really know if he wants too or not. I was a member of the college program from Jan 01 - Aug 01 and he was at Epcot several times. I also met his party at MGM a couple of times.

Some of the CM assigned to escort him were talking to others and I happened to be there. The main reason he was there was to check on 100 yrs. but also possibly getting ready to become more powerful somehow in the company.

I've met Al Weiss in person. I had two seminars taught by him when I was in Orlando. He was a very nice guy and I wouldn't mind seeing him have a more important job. He likes to tell stories about his kids and grandkids.

i wish hed take over too!-however i think his true love is in fact animation-alot of people take roy for granted just like they did to his dad when him and walt alive-he was the business back bone of disney.( he was the financial brains behind getting disney land going ) roy jr is the one who kept the corporate raiders away from trying to take over disney in ther early eighties before eisner.

as far as pressler i dont think hes a bad guy just the wrong guy for the job. he is actually a real smart guy with lots of retail/merchandise backround. it was him who did so well at disney store which made eisner give him the job in the first place. i think getting back into consumer products or merchandise/retail development for disney parks is better for him and the company.
i think if roy took over attractions things would be a lot better but realistically will probably be hariss or weiss due to their extensive time with the company.

I am definitely a Cynthia Harris fan and it seems others are Al Weiss fans. So I think either of them would be better than Pressler. Again...I would like to see him in charge of theme park merchandise. Perhaps he could make some clothes I could wear to school and not get beat up for wearing...
