Golfing at Disney?

Does anyone golf at Disney world? I'm an occasional golfer who likes to play on nice courses and enjoy the atmosphere. It seems there are some good deals to be had. Trouble is I'm not particularly good. I have trouble breaking 100 on any course that isn't really short. I'd probably play by myself as no one else in the family is a golfer and then get grouped with others. Think I will be totally out of place or should I not care as this is vacation?

Its vacation. The courses are awesome and, as long as you keep a reasonable pace of play, they don't mind if you are bad. Just make sure to keep proper course decorum and you will be fine.

Thanks, I'm assuming you have played there before. Any recommendations on which course to play?

Depends...The Palm and Magnolia are classics and incredible and about the same difficulty. LBV isn't as challenging, but it also isn't as "Disney scenic". You cant really go wrong on any of them.

I do miss Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines...they were really fun and rustic.

I have been to DW many times and have always wanted to play golf on one of the courses mentioned, but have not for the same reasons you express. I will be there the first ten days of March. If you or anyone reading this who has the same concern will be there at that time perhaps we could form a group to play at our skill level. I love to play and always keep pace, but no one would mistake me for a decent golfer.

My husband has golfed quite a few times at Disney. He has liked all the courses and usually does the Sunrise 9 package early in the morning. He says it is a good deal, I can't remember what all is involved, but I know he has done it at the Lake Buena Vista, Palm and Magnolia as well. If you aren't into getting up early I think he mentioned some courses were doing a sunset special too. He has golfed a few times on his own, but also been partnered up. The times he has golfed on his own has usually been really early in the day.

DS golfs and I do not. He wanted to golf at Disney so he could say he did it once. We bought him some Disney golf club covers, a Disney golf hat and shirt so he could go in style. He arranged to go early in the morning to avoid crowds and have time for the parks later in the day. It was more expensive than he was used to paying for a round but he enjoyed the experience and got another Disney "want to do" off his list. Its your vacation and if it will give you a thrill and enjoyment, go for it. DS was alone but was invited to join up with another golfer so it worked out for him.

DH golfs-ALOT-at WDW. He teased me one time that to him it was a golf resort that happened to have theme parks to keep the non-golfers entertained. However, he's cut back a little now that there aren't 5 18 hole courses any more. Don't worry about not being too good. Yes, you'll probably be paired with others. Don't worry-it's vacation! DH is a single digit handicapper who often gets paired with people who don't break a hundred. He feels so bad when they keep apologizing. Like he says, it's vacation-everyone should be having FUN! Lake Buena Vista is a pretty friendly course, but some people think the fairways are tight, because of buildings all around. Palm has lots of water-my DMIL is intimidated by water and didn't like playing there. Best bet is probably LBV.
