I've eaten there a few times. You do eat at a large table with others unless you have a large group. It's a buffet so you will have a nice variety of foods there. Everything from Sauerbraten to Apple Strudel. The show is typically what you would see in an authentic German beer hall such as the German drinking songs, dancing, etc.

My hubby is also a picky eater, and shy to boot, but we love Biergarten. The show is great and we really enjoy the food! (And the bier) ;)

We went last year and had reservations as a family of 7 but our DD and her friend ditched us at the last minute so we ended up sharing a table with a retired couple. I felt bad for them at first because we had 3 young kids with us but it turned out alright because the music is loud enough to where you can have your own conversations and not be uncomfortable that you are sitting right next to other people. We did converse with the couple on occasion and it turned out that they were from my wife's grandfather's hometown. Be sure to time your reservation so that you are there 10 to 15 minutes before the show starts. Good times, good food and great beer!

I love Biergarten. I hate German food, but love the atmosphere and entertainment- and still find enough to eat (I'm very picky- so if I like it, anyone will like it!) My husband loves the food, but I fill up on pretzel bread and soup, salads, and apple strudel- among others, but those are my favorites. If I could live on their pretzel rolls, I would!

It is my family's absolute favorite at WDW. We've been 6 times now.

Our honeymoon was our first time there - we were a little surprised being seated with another family. It turned out being GREAT! It was an extended family - a couple, their two kids, and the husbands parents. They were the nicest people - they ordered us a cake and bought me a, much too large, beer. It was a wonderful evening. Now, when we go, we're the large family and like to meet whomever sits with us!

Beyond that - the food is varied enough and it's a buffet where there are lots of choices - so even if you don't normally eat German food - you can probably find somethings you like.

The show is a lot of fun. The kids always go sit on the floor. Even having been home for a while, we break into the chorus - Tiki-taki, tiki-taki, oi, oi, oi!

It really is so much fun isn't it? We caught the second half of one show this past trip, and stayed all the way through a second. We were a large enough group to take up an entire table this time- but I've loved sitting with and meeting other guests on past visits as well!

I hear you - It seems like we usually hang out there for quite a while - must be a couple of rounds of the show.

It really is kinda nice meeting other folks over dinner - never would have guessed that going in!

I was nervous too! But we've had great experiences, and have sat with friendly and interesting people.

One Little Spark...
How lively it is depends on how many people are there, and how many people understand what is going on.

I adore it, but I also grew up in Germany during my childhood (and it is far from authentic, but it is still tons of fun).

That being said, here's some things to consider.

1) The food is excellent. I'd certainly not skip over the cold salad section (the cucumber salad last trip was fantastic!) Get some schnizel. It's not the best, since it's pork (veal is better), but still great, coat it with some brown (hunters) gravy and load up on the spaetzle.

2) The beer flight there is awesome. Worth doing!

3) Group seating is merely a reason to get to know the person next to you. Of all the experiences at Disney, this is the most social.

4) The band is excellent, and not afraid to interact. But, if you really want to prep your group for what to expect...you should expect at least this, because it will happen. It will help you to participate.

Ein Prosit.

Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit, der Gemütlichkeit
Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit, der Gemütlichkeit
(Cheer!) Eins, zwei, drei, g'suffa!

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke,

hoi, hoi, hoi
Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke,

hoi, hoi, hoi

The translation is something like this:

"A toast, a toast, to cheer for good times."
<repeat>

Pronounce the next as "tiki taki, tiki taki, oi oi oi!"

Anyhow, it's a lot of fun. Get up and go dance for the band, and relish it.

And yes, that is me singing...dancing with the kid in a slow waltz. It's rather sad that all entertainment in the US (and modern culture) seems to be consumptive rather than participatory...somewhere along the way we forgot how to have fun with each other.

Well, this experience is all about that...having fun with other people.

Sorry about the beer glass shot (it wasn't my choice, the kiddo wanted to go dance!)...not our table, we were 3 levels up...

Get up and dance, and have fun. It's the most fun if you let yourself go and just do it. The band is great!

The food is good, the music is great (kudos to the band), the environment is hands down my favorite place at EPCOT.

Heading for the great escape.
Cant beat the boxheads for some good basic grub and tasty adult beverages. Always good to finish dinner with some schnapps.

I would suggest frequent trips to the servery rather than plate loading, as this will avoid cross contamination of the dishes.

It's a must do for us! The schnitzel is fantastic and so isn't the cheddar beer soup. German beer is our favorite and any place that serves it in a liter is a win in our book. Enjoy!

The Gurken Salat (Cucumber/Dill salad) is good, but I am hooked on their Bayrischer Wurst Salat (cold Bavarian sausage salad) and pickled red cabbage.

I love this restaurant and meeting people from all around the world. It is just the three of us and we are always sat with other small groups and it really adds to the enjoyment. We have always been very lucky and met great people just like us enjoying Disney and some German traditions. Every time we have been to WDW we have dined here at least once per trip and we will continue to do so. It is so much fun!!

Keep in mind that the menus changes between lunch and dinner. During lunch they do not serve Sauerbraten or Beef Roulades. The food is great no mater when you go and the band does sets throughout the day so you should never miss them.

We love it! The buffet has a wonderful selection of German fare (as well as some American selections if you have a picky eater in the bunch). My favorites include the pretzel bread, schnitzel (breaded, fried pork or veal), spaetzle (egg noodles), the German potato salad, sauerkraut, pickled red beet salad, sausages with mustard, and the berry compote. My husband could sit there all day with a beer and some strudel and be a happy man. If you time your ADR right, you get to see live music from Oktoberfest Muskaanten, which is a fun and boisterous "oom-pah" band. Even my usually-shy 6-year-old son was so moved by the music that he jumped up to dance along!
