You're going to find that they both waterparks have similar attendance figures. Check out the rides and visit the park which appeals most - you'll be stood in lines whichever one you choose

I would choose Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach. I have been to both, I felt Typhoon Lagoon was better. between the Wave pool, slides and shark reef. My trip in August, I have a 2 days planned so I can go to each one. It will be my daughter's first trip and I have heard that BB is better for kids, so thats why I decided to do both. (Plus we will be there for 10 days)

I suggest Blizzard Beach for kids. They have tubes available in the wave pool, a more calm wave pool, and better kids areas. Especially for toddlers. There is a great family slide too for 5 people (32" and over) They are both fun, but it depends one what age your kids are.
