Hi looking at reserving the dinner package. Is it worth it? We are looking at HBD instead of HWV. We have tried Mama Melrose before but to be honest our experience was not all that great there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Mouse Ears at the ready!

First piece of advice, if you can, do not go to WDW in August. We've had to do that several times based on work schedules and the weather made those the most uncomfortable trips ever.

Those, in my opinion are two totally different restaurants. One is a buffet and the other is a fairly upscale restaurant with entrees from about $19 to $46 dollars. You should look at the menu online and if the family doesn't see what they would want at Brown Derby, then Hollywood and Vine it is. For us, the dinner package was not worth it because Fantasmic was cancelled due to lightning in the area. No rain and no visible lightning that I could see, but it was cancelled and of course there is no refund of any kind on the dinner package. We just baught it so we would not have to stand in line for 2 hours to get a decent seat.

Heya ducksnarowm... I haven't tried HWV, but we enjoyed Mama Melrose much more than HBD (everything was fine at HBD, just wasn't our cup of tea), but, unlike you, we had a great experience there.

Due to this I really can't say which one over the other I would recommend... I just wanted to say hello to a fellow August visitor. :)

Hey we are going 24th July - 3rd August, 6 adults (21-60 yrs old) and a 3.5 yr old I've booked the fantasmic dining package at Holly and Vine so
1) no massive wait for fantasmic
2) 3.5 yr old can meet all the main characters without massive queues and without as much pressure as being watched by everyone in a line.

We have some fussy eaters in out group so thought a buffet was a better choice .
