I AM A FORMER cast member, who fell in love with all things Disney. I lived and breathed Disney! It truly was the highlight of my life! After I moved back home after my role at Walt Disney World, I WAS HOOKED! I started to help friends and family plan their trips to WDW. That was enjoyable for me, but still none took me along as a personal tour guide! LOL
But recent years have made my love for Disney vanish! I won't go into them, but you know what they are. The biggest thing being, DISNEY IS LYING TO ITS GUESTS...The parks are quite EMPTY so far this summer. But Disney says that the parks are PACKED! If you have the My Disney Experience app, you can go and check the wait times of the attractions. I check about midday, when things should be in full swing...the wait times DO NOT coincide with Disney saying that the parks are packed. TRON is the highest wait time at a NOMALLY 120+ minute wait, recently TRON has been at the most during SUMMER...60 minutes, the second highest wait time is Peter Pan's Flight at normal wait time of 80+ minutes, it has recently been 60 or less minute wait!! So, you can see the real time wait times on the app, and they won't lie! But Disney will!
So, to sum up this post...
Because of the decisions in recent years from Disney Executives and finding out that Disney is lying about wait times, and more things, I have decided I am not longer a Disney person! 😢 I am planning a trip next year (2026) that DOES NOT INCLUDE Disney AT ALL!!! I am instead going to spend my time and money at EPIC UNIVERSE and WILD FLORIDA Safari and Air Boats! It has animal encounters that is like no other offerings at the theme parks. Nowhere is a theme park can you hold and feed a Sloth, a Capybara, a Porcupine or a Lemur!
This trip will be my last trip to Florida because of prices of everything is too much for someone that is on Disability.

I wish all of you well and I have enjoyed my time on this forum.

The times on the app are provided by Disney.

Sometimes you need to take a break from the Magic. 2010 cast member here, and I returned every year for five years until I was feeling a little stuck and unfulfilled. Even stopped checking this site for those years. Then I went again in 2022, and fell fully back in love and my passion was renewed. I've been back every year since, and I don't see that slowing down anytime soon.

Also.. is the base of your complaint that the parks aren't as busy as Disney claims? You're upset that wait times are shorter? That's odd to me. And it's been a trend for the past few years that summer's have been becoming slower and slower. Notice how Disney keeps running promotions on rooms and dining plans? I don't really see any evidence of Disney misleading their public about the state of crowds.

He’s buying the nonsense being peddled on an attendance thread.

Be careful where you post a logical comment based on reality.

Advertise higher wait times=sell more lightening lane single/multi pa$$es
But he’s saying the advertised wait times are low:

He’s saying that the low wait times on the app are accurate but Disney is lying by telling people the parks are packed.

Why do people keep whining about quiet parks? Why do people want to encourage two hour long Iines? From a guest perspective, packed parks suck.

And no where has Disney claimed the parks are packed. I think they are well aware that the next few years are going to be tough given the state of the economy, politics, tourism and increased competition, which is why they are investing so heavily in building new stuff right now.

I decided long ago not to go anymore, but please don't blame all this on Disney's decisions. The real world isn't coming to Disney World because of cost, of course, but it is also because everything on the outside of WDW is in a state of unpredictable flux. People aren't coming here from other countries because of that and especially people that live here are able to be concerned about spending money that they might need later on or at least until things settle down.

Yes, lower crowds would normally be a good thing for guests, but right now the reason is influenced by outside forces far more than inside of WDW itself. Just because WDW is a fantasy kingdom doesn't mean that the real world doesn't have a great deal of influence in when and where people spend their hard earned money. WDW is still a great place to visit when things are stable but it is a luxury item that can easily be skipped for awhile. I guess it is a great opportunity for those with sufficient income and backup to take advantage of that, but it would not be wise for anyone to go into further debt to do it. We all know that a whole lot of people visit on the strength of their credit cards more than their existing bank balance.

I would be mad if Disney was saying the wait times were longer on the app than in reality, which I think they are to some degree. This, I would assume, would be to push people to buy the lightening lanes...etc.

Honestly, I don't understand this need for people who have become disgruntled with Disney to continue to participate on a fan board. I see the comments of the OP differently from those of other individuals who may be concerned about some of the choices Disney is making at WDW. The latter group still want a connection to the parks and still continue to go. The former seem to just want to stir the pot before proclaiming that they are off to Universal (or someplace else). Aren't there fan boards for these other parks? If you are truly disgruntled with Disney and don't want to go to the parks anymore, then great. Go get a life and stop spending time on a fan board for a community to which you no longer want to belong.

No. I joined this board to discuss WDW. How about you, why did you join this board?

As to my original point, it is a fact that nobody will notice if one single person stops going to WDW, unless of course that one person starts an entire thread solely to announce to the world their intentions in that regard.
Been a big Disney fan since my childhood. Have been to WDW so many times over the past 40 years and have seen the changes many not for the better. So yes I have an opinion which may disagree with yours based on experience. I voice my negative opinion in hopes Disney powers to be will get back to what they were

Great post. I definitely share your concerns, as well as your hopes for a return to days of the past. Don’t get me wrong, I still find a ton of things fun at WDW, but there can be no doubt that some real missteps have been taken.

How far back? Remember the ticket book? We’re 360 back to the original Ticket book in many ways….

Way back in the day we had the Ticket Book and piece rate….

Bummer so many things have been taken away, pulled back and now allow you the privilege to pay additional….restrictions on what was entrance whenever we were compelled, and now the Park Reservations staying in place for APs….

But….lets not go all the way back either….still enough Magic for my peeps to come down quarterly or better….
