Going from inside to out in Summer.. How "cool" is inside?

Hi all.

This may be a ridiculous question, but one we have none-the-less.

Will we "freeze" being inside for the attractions that are inside? Meaning, do we need to tote a little sweatshirt or similar? Or, is it simply a reprieve from the heat outside and we don't need to worry about shivering?

Again, this probably sounds silly but trying to determine if we need to include a sweatshirt on the packing list for our July trip.

Thanks!

I am from Chicago and If you are going in the Summer from HOT to COLD it kind of hits it once you walk in like very cold but you get used to it fast, now when you leave the attraction and walk out it feels HOTTT

I am from the Midwest...hot, humid summers. I am fine during regular park time. However, I am like Kasey1988 and take a sweater or lightweight jacket for dining. I cannot stand to be cold while dining.

Honestly, I had more trouble with the super cold freezing temps that some Buses have.

When I went back in October, outside temps were easily in the 35-40Celius(104farenheit) and the Buses were at like 10 or so Celsius(50 or lower F)..

Very easy to get muscular pain, cramps and get colds after sweating your life out of you in the parks. Not funny in any way.

All restaurants are more enjoyable temps wise than the buses, that's what I confirm to you.
funnily, coldest restaurant I remember, was Mexico's quick service covered area.

but agree with @disney4life2008 .. I mad the mistake of carrying a light sport jacket.. and It ended completely wet in sweat ( and I'm Mexican used to hot weather!)

Id honestly suggest you yo carry it in a backpack, a small bag or put it in a locker at each of the parks.

I had the same question. I have brought it before and was glad I did. I feel like if you need to ask the question, then you are someone who often gets cold and it might benefit you. You can always bring on day one and if you don't need it leave it at the hotel for the rest of the trip.

I get cold on the buses and at meals and plane ride as do my kids.

Sometimes as the trip goes on, I build up a tolerance for the cold. But right now, we are still coming off of Polar Vortex and wearing winter coats a few short weeks ago so I need to build up some HOT weather before I am ok. Everyone's body temp is different!

I have to agree with both @Disneydreamer23 and @kasey1988. In most situations, going from the hot outside to the cold inside, you will not really notice except for the initial blast of cold. Then pretty quickly you are feeling warm again. But there have been a few restaurants my DW and DD were wishing for a light sweater. The tough thought is do you want to carry around a sweater when its 90+ degrees and very humid (as @disney4life2008 stated).

If your vacation is in July, you won't need to bring a single extra piece of clothing. With the high humidity and 90+ degree days Orlando gets in the summer, you'll wind up cutting through stores as you're walking around just to get some relief.

It really depends on the person. My wife and I are fine, but our kids are a different matter. They seem to get cold when the mercury drops below 75. They need some kind of cover to survive any meal in WDW regardless of the time of year.

In recent years Disney has been on a campaign to decrease AC running costs throughout the guest areas. Temperatures now are much higher inside than they used to be. You will not find it cold inside. Temperatures are in the region of 78F to 80F.

Florida summers are pretty brutal, so the AC is always a huge relief for me. Plus, that's a high volume month, so you will have a lot bodies to bring the temp up inside. An extra article of clothing is just an extra piece to have to carry around. I doubt it would be beneficial.

Thanks all for the input! Guess we may need to consider something for dinner. Will probably tough it out for the bus ride so we don't have to lug it around with us.

Some of the rides can be cool inside - but after the oppressive Florida heat and humidity, you will want some cool air. Most rides don't last long enough to make you freeze, anyway.

Or you could do something simple.

each park usually as either a restaurant near the exit gates (like rainforest cafe in AK for example) or a store ( Disney Emporium at MK).

take a drink at these restaurants or just walk around in the stores, until your temps drop.. then head directly to the buses.. that way the switch from soaring heat to freezing cold wont hit you as hard.

The ins door rides are about room temperature. You'll be fine. You'll get that sudden rush when you first walk in which will feel great but you'll be fine. You'll probably wish you didn't have to leave.

Considering what the outside temperature/humidity will be in Orlando in July, I agree. The first time we visited WDW was in August back in 1996 - said NEVER AGAIN at that time of year and we didn't go back for 14 years....
