Going from 5 guests to 6 on Disney dining reservation

Ok we've been out of the Disney loop for a bit, but we're going back this April for spring break. When we made our dining reservations 6 months ago I had 4 adults and one child. Now my father-in-law has changed his mind and plans to go. I've already checked and cannot get a new reservation for the restaurants I've picked (BOG) for 6. What would you do? Keep what I have and hope they can add an extra plate or just bag all of them and start over, knowing I won't get any of the restaurants/times I've reserved (already tried). We have 4 adults, a 12 year old boy and and 6 year old boy if that matters. Thanks!

You're going to hear mixed results and thoughts on this. I know many people have had a lot of success in adding 1 when checking in to an ADR...especially if it's going from 3 to 4 or from 5 to 6...i.e. you're already probably slated for a table that could seat 1 more. On the flipside, I've been in a situation at WDW where we were turned down when we tried to add extra people at check in.

I'd probably keep what I have for now, but stalk the website - especially the week or 2 before your dates - for any openings for 6.

Try calling WDW-DINE. They can check your reservation and see if your 5 people are in a slot that can hold 6 and then modify them. Most parties of 5 are seated at tables for 6, but I do know that there are a few places where the tables are 5.
