Going back to AKL...again... :)

Meega, nala kwishta!
OK, now I've set the day and booked our room...184 days to go and then we are back to the AKL, on concierge again too.

Now I play the waiting game for the codes/deals/packages. I hope they run that 3 free nights again. That was a huge savings last year! Even better than the 40% codes from years before.

So my question is now...where to eat?

We'll be doing Liberty Tree Tavern, Jiko and Spoodles for sure. But I need to pick a few more. Let me hear it... :)

Also, we'll be doing the Sunset Safari (with Jiko), Breathless Fireworks cruise (if it's available), and we are thinking of tring out that new Segway tour too. Anyone been on any of these yet? Thoughts?

We always make a point to eat at San Angel. We love the food and the atmosphere is romantic. Narcoossees is always yummy. Request a table by the window. If you time it right you can see a little of the EWP. Now since you will be there during F&WF you should spend an evening sampling around the world. My husband and I are big foodies and it is hard to pick just a few restaraunts to visit each trip. Have fun choosing!!

Thanks...

We did Narcoossees and San Angel two years ago. Loved the way they dimmed the lights at Narcoossees and piped in the music for the firework show at MK. It was a nice touch while we ate dessert. :slurp:

Food and Wine was nice last year, but I was a bit dissapointed, I guess I was hoping for more. I hope it will be better, and since my expectations are not so high, I'm sure it will be pleasant.

We too are food nut at WDW. We like eating at good places, and do some favorites and a few new ones on each vist. We usally will do at least one each day, sometimes breakfast and dinner.

We did Flying Fish last year and loved it and I'm torn if we should do that one again, or pick another.

I'm sure we'll squeeze Rose & Crown for a lunch (fish n chips :slurp: ), and the China and Cassey's for lunch as well.

Never done Germany or Japan, not sure if I'd like either. We haven't done the Bistro yet, or Victoria and Albert's either.

So much to choose from.

Are their any good places to eat at the moderate resorts? We've only visited deluxe resort restaurants, and I've never really looked into the others.

1. Beaches & Cream. Great burgers and shakes. We usually try to go to B&C on a evening that we are going to Epcot. We take a bus to the Beach Club Resort, eat at B&C and then take a friendship to the World Showcase.

2. 'Ohana. It will give you an excuse to wander around the Poly. You can catch the fireworks from the beach after dinner.

3. Le Cellier. Great steaks. Low key atmosphere. A nice break from the parks.

4. The Plaza Restaurant. Nice location at the tip of MainStreet. I think some of the best burgers on property and a good assortment of other items. Great icecream.

I have never been impressed with any Mod restaraunts. They are the equiv. to Applebees in my opinion. A good place to sit and eat rather than grab and go. On Vic and Albert, I would save it for a very, very special occasion. It is quite expensive. You should check out some of the menus on Allearsnet.com. The menu changes constantly. When my husband and I went 2 years ago, our tab for food alone was $275. That did not include the wine at $189 a bottle. We had to save up for that one. As far as Germany it is your standard "American" German. With both of our families being German (My husbands family name was Ergenschaschic before they immigrated in the early 1900's) If you like your standard wurst and schnitzel then it is worth a trip in. It is a buffet so you are st the mercy of whatever is out. Bistro is very nice but is lacking in a good offering of French cuisine. Nothing like Chefs de France. Matsunoma Lounge is wonderful for a full lunch with great flair! Teppanyaki is ok. It reminded me of the . steak houses we have around here. All this food talk is making my stomach talk! Fell free to hit me with any other questions you have. With almost 50 trips under my belt I have had the pleasure of eating everywhere atleast once!

Ok, I'll take you up on that challange.

My wife and I just went through the Disney Guide to dining we got from WDW last year. We pick out a few we've never ate at so let me know what you think of them...

Citricos, Crystal Palace, California Grill, 1900 Park Fair, and we are deffinatly doning Spoodles, but I'd like to hear your take on it. We were also thinking about Teppanyaki, but your description sounds alot like the place we have around our place too.

We are also talking about revisiting Flying Fish and Alfredos agian too.

Thanks for the input. We plan our whole trip around our dining PSs, so we like to be very selective about what we choose. And thanks for the V&A tip. We are not prepaired to spend quite that much on one meal this year.

johnvree, I love 'Ohana's, unfountunatly, my wife doesn't. And well, she usally wins on these kind of things, so I doubt we'll be doing that place anytime soon. And we've eaten at Le Cellier twice, and both times were just OK. Gave it a chance twice, and neither has stuck, so I doubt we'll be spending time there for a few years.

Never did Plaza Restaurant, is that accross from Cassey's? We always do Cassesy's for lunch and then Liberty Tree for dinner on our first night at Disney, tradition and all. And the sound of a good shake at Beaches sounds like a nice nightcap at the end of a Epcot day. :slurp:

Thanks for all the input!

Flying Fish :sohappy: , Boma Breakfast :sohappy: , Dinner  , Captn' Jack's Oysyer Bar -

We loved Fish, and Boma for breakfast is absolutly great, but dinner was not as good as I hoped for, still good, but not great, which saddens me 'cos I love all of AKL with all my heart.

We've never done Captn' Jack's Oysyer Bar, so I have no opinion, well no opinion about the restaurant, have plenty of other opionions about other stuff too, but that way off topic.

Ok, lets see (cracking my fingers)

Citricos...Kinda Mediterranean, kinda floridian. Good fish dishes. I would recommend this rest. for people who like imaginative fish dishes and who generally eat healthier
Crystal Palace...Good character dining. I will leave it at that.
(my husband and I don't have kids so we avoid character meals)
California Grill... three words, to die for!! We love this restaraunt! We eat here every trip. Great west coast flair with an awsome wine list!!! 2 thumbs up. And the view...WOW They also dim the lights and play the fireworks music. You can see for miles from up there
1900 Park Fair... again Character meals. I have not been in a number of years but I hear the group of characters is great. Mary Poppins, Alice and friends. Not your average bear or mouse!
Flying Fish...Great, Great, Great. Wonderful fish dishes, kinda like Citricos but with a more artsy feeling. Very full palate flavors and they also have a nice wine list. If you like Spoodles and fish you will like Flying Fish
Alfredo's... I am torn with this one. My husband loves it. I feel the price is a bit much for the size portions you get. don't get me wrong, the food is good. Better price for lunch.
Plaza... Yes, across from Casey's. Ok at best. Sandwiches and salads. You can take that money and get a better meal at Columbia Harbour House, esp. if you like fish and chips

whew...
 I think this covers it. Now remember, this is just one person's opinion. Hope this helps!

Thanks, and yes it does. I'm sure we are going to do California Grill and Citricos now.

Still have half a year yet to ponder, but I just can't wait. :sohappy:

What's your take on Spoodles?

We are also in the Castle for lunch. Good food I hear.

We've donn it for dinner once. It was fun, and everyone should eat there once. But once was enough for us. The food was good, and the service was good as well, but the place was like a mad house. Very busy, crowded. We felt rushed.

Maybe lunch isn't so busy?

Have fun!

Teppanyaki is a Japanese Steakhouse where they cook in front of you. If you don't have one near you, it's a cool experience, but I live right near a Japan Inn(similiar thing) and I don't think that it is worth a precious dinner. :D

Teppanyaki is also known as Bennihana. It is when Japanese chefs cook mostly chicken, shrimp, and beef in front of you on a large grill. Sometimes the good ones do all sorts of tricks with the knives, salt and pepper shakers, and food itself. A lot of fun to watch.

California Grill--Good Choice...Good view....Good Service

Flying Fish--Our favorite......Banana Napolean..wicked

Spoodles--very consistently good. We like it. Upscale prices, but casual atmosphere.

We like the Brown Derby for the Cobb Salad....I know many folks don't care for the restaurant, but we seem to catch it when it is not busy and have a good experience with both food and service.

Good luck eating your way through WDW :slurp: just don't:hurl:

So what is the length of time to wait after eating before you get on Mission:Space?

I'm one of those people that doesn't like the Derby. :lookaroun

I just can never find a whole meal that I can enjoy there. I can sometimes be a very picky eater. And my wife is surprised sometimes when I choose some of the more exoctic places to eat at WDW. But there are a few that I know I'll never eat at (Sushi :hurl: ), and a few like Derby that I tried, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

I'm mostly a meat and potatoes kind of guy, hence the yearly tradition of Liberty Tree Tavern. But I love seafood too, so we do alot of that too.

I read the menus first before we make our final dicisions. This is why we skipped the Bistro last year, I just didn't care for what was on that menu, funny, I love Chefs though.

So here's the list so far for dinners: Liberty Tree Tavern, Jiko (Sunset Safari), Spoodels, Citricos, Alfredos, Flying Fish, California Grill

We may do a day in Tampa this year, and if we do we'll move Alfredos to a lunch.

Mmmm...I'm hungry. :slurp:

They sound like wonderful choices. I do like Spoodles very much. We usually stay at Y&B or Boardwalk so we frequent the Boardwalk rest. If you go to Big River say hi to Derek!! He is a friend of mine. I am not sure if he will still be there by the fall, though. He likes to moves around.

Glad I could help! Have a Happy Easter!!!
