>>Disney fans, listen up. You’ll be wanting to head to the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana next year, when it’s scheduled to mount a major exhibition on the history of the Walt Disney Co. opening on March 7.
“Inside the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic” is slated to include more than 400 objects from the archives, including the set of Walt Disney’s office used in the movie “Saving Mr. Banks”, never-before-seen-in-public sketches from “Fantasia” and of ghouls from the Haunted Mansion ride.
The exhibit will also include maquettes (production models) from the movies “Frozen” and “Peter Pan” as well as super hero costumes. It’s mounted in collaboration with Walt Disney Archives, which collects and preserves Disney history at the company’s headquarters in Burbank.
Members of the D23 Disney fan club and Bowers Museum members will get exclusive previews of the show.
Tickets will be available online and in person at the box office. Information on how to obtain tickets is scheduled to be announced Nov. 25. The exhibit is slated to run March 7 through Aug. 30.
The Bowers is located at 2002 N. Main St. Santa Ana, not far from Disneyland. It’s mostly known for its exhibitions of cultural artifacts from around the world. Learn more at Bowers.org.<<
