I voted for 1992, but I wanted to vote for the 2009 update where they had Flotsam and Jetsam on Honda jetskis and did a massive digital upgrade to the audio and projection effects throughout the viewing area. That was when they also replace the original 70mm film projectors for the mist screens with far more accurate digital projections.

Oh I forgot about that one! I'll add it in.

Thank you. My vote has been changed to 2009.

Honda is still the sponsor of Autopia, and the official car of Disneyland, so why can't they buy a couple new Honda jetskis at wholesale and give that Flotsam and Jetsam gag another try for 2024? It was terribly clever and fun, as I remember.

I voted for 2009 as well, but there's something delightful about '92s short lived Ursula float-

The scene needs either the Ursula or Flotsam and Jetsam floats. As it existed for most of its existence, it was an overly long animated segment. Part of the brilliance of the original show was the use of the projections to hide set transitions- with the Little Mermaid segment as a glaring exception to this.

One slight downgrade in 2009 was the addition of the green blast at the end of the show. Until then, the show faded out just like it started. It's subtle, and a wonderful conclusion to the show.

The green blast detracts from this and was completely unnecessary.

2009's (when everything was working as intended) was as close to perfect as this show has gotten, imo. The upgrades were welcome and everything still felt like it flowed naturally despite the show being, at it's core, a mishmash of seemingly random Disney moments. The 2017 iteration felt like it obliterated the flow of the show.

Much like how more current iterations of World of Color make little to no attempt to hide that you are now just watching an increasingly random Disney clip show with less and less thought given to it.
