Glow or not to Glow

I'm losing sleep over this, my husband and I haven't been to Disney since the end of the Electric Light Parade. In our past visits we would bring glow necklaces, glow bracelets and glow sticks. We got a kick out of handing them out to the kids of all sizes that would be standing around us while we waited for the parade to start. Should I bring glow items on our trip coming up in Feb? I've only got 144 days left to shop and pack...

I'm not against it. But WDW may have other thoughts when they have street vendors right next to you selling them.

I'm not a fan of them... and many others hate seeing them because they can be distracting, but I dont think Disney will care if you bring them in and give them to kids standing next to you. Your not selling them, your not handing them out to a massive number of guests to hurt sales, youre making a few kids that happen to be around you happy.

My most recent trip in June we were next to a family handing them out before the fireworks and it was near a vender so I guess it’s ok. Made some children around us happy. I prefer those to the flashing items Disney sells those are annoying.

We brought them along specifically to be able to see DD7 easier at night. She usually put her braid into a bun and wore a glow bracelet like a tiara around it. Took a few extras each night and she'd hand em out to other kids, she enjoyed sharing the simple fun.

I'm always in favor of bringing glow stuff from home. We have also brought a large pkg of glow sticks on several of our visits and handed them out to kids around us/passing by. We've never had any issues from Disney with this...and let's be honest...my el cheapo glow stick isn't going to compete with a $15-30 flashing glowing LED wonder from the cart.

My DD worked in "glow" as part of the DCP this year...she said that as long as you're not too obvious, and look like you're selling them, there shouldn't be any problems.

Children are taught to never talk or take candy from strangers. I would never allow my child to take anything from a stranger including glow sticks. There is a risk that the glow stick could be tampered with and contain all sorts of bad things. I know your intentions are probably good but it’s still not a good idea.

Take em', make some kids happy! All you need to do is ask the parents if it's ok, then give away!! We do this every trip, and my kids are adults now. I take extra light up xmas necklaces, as well, ever since I did it once years ago and ended up giving them all to a family next to us. We overheard the kids asking for them, their parents told them they could'nt afford them. I discreetly leaned over to the mom, showed her my necklace, and told her I had a bunch extra - could I give them to her kids? She was soooo grateful, I swear I almost teared up. And those kids were so thankful, and it brought so much joy to them (esp. since they could wear them the rest of the trip) that I knew it was the right thing to do. If a parent is wary, they'll let you know - nothing great can happen if you do nothing!
