Give A Day

"Give A Day, Get A Day" is an annual promotion with an offer for a free park ticket to the first 1 million volunteers who registered on the disney website. Even though they have reached 1 million registered volunteers and no one else is allowed to sign up for the promotion, the people who did register have until the end of december to redeem their ticket after providing proof of their volunteer service.

What's weird is that DL took everything for Celebrate Everyday down and the park looks awesome...Where as WDW is oddly still promoting it even tho it's been over..I do hope they put the parks back to a non celebratorial promotion and make it a simple park like it was.

While it's true people who already earned their days but have not used them can use them through December - December 15th specifically and NOT the 31st - there's absolutely zero evidence that it will return. It was, like most promotions, a limited time deal that has now concluded.

It was a very limited time deal, it ran like 2-3 months it seemed since so many people signed up, I was going to once it came to some area near us, but it was over just as fast, the place doesn't advertise when they need assistance with anything, since most of the local organizations pitch in. Hope those that signed up really do a volunteer service and not just hold it, thus taking it from those of us that wanted a chance to really use the ticket and do good at the same time to the community.

Well done to all those that did volunteer in your community, Congrats and hope you enjoy(ed) your ticket and trip to Disney :sohappy:

What Will You Celebrate? and Give a Day, Get a Disney Day were both a part of Celebrate Today! which is still going on. I'm expecting Celebrate Today! to last through 2011 when I expect an official announcement on October 1, 2011 about a 40th anniversary celebration.

The worst was Grand Gatherings. It specifically promoted that guests would be treated better if they could con 7 or more relatives into traveling with them.

Anyone who pays more will get treated better. Grand Gathering promotion or not.

The point wasn't the spending money. If you would have bothered to READ my post, it would be that the promotion was very excluding. That is all. Congrats on the smartypants reply though. Totally necessary.

As someone who volunteered and got a free day at DHS as a result, I can tell you that you do have to volunteer to get the ticket. It would be hard to cheat the system. It's not just the matter of you saying you volunteered but the non-profit that you volunteer for has to do paperwork on their end too before you recevied your voucher.

As for organizations not advertising that they needed help, that's because the promotion didn't work that way. You simply went online for a list of the organizations that you could volunteer for that were also participating in the promotion.

Sorry that you missed out. I thought it was a really neat opportunity.

I don't know about DL but at WDW Celebrate Today is the current theme. That is why the parks are still decorated with that theme.

No. A 40th celebration will be announced well before Oct 1, 2011, since that is the actual date.

While the Celebrate promotion and decorations will be coming down in WDW in the not so distant future you can count on the "What are you celebrating" question asked every time you make a reservation to be asked for quite some time.

Give A Day Get A Day Promotion

I went online as early as January 3rd to sign up to volunteer at a local community center, but ended up having to cancel. When I tried to reschedule with the same organization, they told me that they were already booked up through the year.

Luckily I found another organization, Second Harvest, who needed volunteers at their warehouse one Saturday, to help bag food for needy school children, and I earned my Volunteer Voucher for a free day at Disney, that I will use this October.

It took about a week or so after I volunteered, for the paperwork to get processed, and for me to receive my Voucher, that I could either download to print, or donate.
