Ok, so when does Give-a-day Get-a-day start? Everything since the beginning said 1/1/10... Am I too early at 5:30 AM? Does anybody know what website I go to select a place to volunteer at? I was expecting an e-mail since I had to submit my e-mail address when I first signed up months ago...

You can sign up through DisneyParks.com, then click on the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day button. Registration is now open...though is anyone else having difficulty actually signing up for an opportunity? I can search for opportunities, but when I try to click on "Register" for any of them, my connection times out. It's not on my end, as other websites work just fine.

After many tries, I finally got through the Disney part of the sign-up process, but on the Hands-On page, when I submit the final form, I get an "error-in use" message.

I got to it thru Disney.go.com. However there is a message on there that says due to high volume of requests the server is slow or something of that nature....I have to say I'm so pleased to see the large number of orginizations that are taking part.

TV ads on ball game

I just heard Vern Lundquist do an ad for this on the ABC (of course) coverage of the LSU-Penn State game coming from Orlando, so Disney is starting to promote this to the public.

I've been trying for over an hour - very frustrating. One would think they would have been prepared for this capacity on their servers.

Well, the event I want to volunteer for hasn't signed up anyone since this morning, so it's probable absolutely no one has been getting through all day.

EDIT: This message was just posted on the page-
Thanks to the generous spirit of our guests, we have had a strong response to our Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program.

We prepared for this launch based on similar programs in the past. However, the large numbers of guests attempting to register for volunteer service in the program has created periodic slowdowns in the network, resulting in difficulty in completing the registration process.

We apologize for the inconvenience and want to let you know that we're working to add capacity to the system to provide a better registration experience for our guests.

Be assured that new volunteer opportunities are being added to the HandsOn Network daily, and we will not reach the one million ticket milestone this weekend. So keep checking back to see what new volunteer opportunities have been added -- and thanks for your interest in the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program.
