Gimme one good reason--

We are spending 4 days in DW coming up here, having never been there, original plan was going to spend one day at each of the (non water parks). But having trouble committing one of the days to Epcot.
It really appears to be more of an adult and educational oriented park, which is not a bad thing, just that our party is mostly kids (10 out of the 15 in our party). I think the extra hours we will get at MK for example or the ability to get three more fastpasses there for experiences I'm afraid we might not be able to fit in with only one day at MK.

I've never understood the great fascination with manatee's. I've lived with them all my life in FL, so I guess I take it for granted. I'm a spoiled little brat.:D
Nah, I didn't live in Florida all my life so I don't take them for granted. I think that they are interesting looking animals, but, since I still don't understand their reason for existing other then consuming enough lettuce to feed undernourished nations, I am not overly impressed. They kind of remind me of those TV programs that feature people that let themselves get to 1000 pounds and are now just lying there eating constantly and unable to accomplish anything else. My question is... what's the point. I mean other then tell me that it isn't a good idea to get to a half ton in size, I'm not sure exactly what heroics I am witnessing. o_O:bored:;)

Most of the country is land locked and so the rest of us do not see any aquatic life except for zoos/aquariums. And most zoos do not have Manatees. Almost every trip I take, I hear people either say out loud "what is that" or tell their kids they are something completely different then a manatee. A lot of people have no idea what those are let alone are used to seeing them.

I love how this thread turned out! :)
It's nice to see that so many posters have an appreciation for the uniqueness of Epcot. It gets bashed on the boards a bit because it does need some TLC, especially if you're comparing it now to how it stood out on the grand scale of things in the first years of it's existence.
So many people have already weighed in about why they love Epcot and why it is a "must see" so I will just be brief and say that Epcot was my kids favorite park from our very first visit, which I actually didn't expect. Not such a huge surprise that my science and tech oriented boys loved it but when it was clearly the favorite of my princess obsessed daughter THAT was a surprise. They loved being able to go into the Innovations building and use these things called "Personal Computers". Haha. (yeah-my age is showing) :)
There is no way to experience all of WDW in four days. We go 2-4 times a year for at least a week each trip and we are never bored. You WILL have to pick and choose what to do on your first trip but surely you will be back- who can resist? We would never NOT get park hoppers. So worth the price upgrade. With our kids, we always split our days. It was just more fun that way. So many more options and the ability to change your mind as often as you like. Now when DH and I go on adult trips EVERY day is partially an Epcot day and we mix in another park each day. When we stay at an Epcot resort we've even been known to start the day at Epcot, switch to another park, and then head back to Epcot before closing to do another loop of World Showcase through the back entrance.
Epcot is a must for us and as many have said, it is for them too. You will have a great time no matter what you do. Just relax and take in as much as you can and then come back again, and again, and again......................

There's still plenty of good rides at Epcot for kids. Also phineas finder in WS is fun for kids. Also it's a great time to go inside the countries and educate kids as well.

I wonder if it's possible for some area in Epcot to get an expansion. Especially after seeing the map for Epcot and looking at World Showcase.
