gift card question

Can a Disney Gift card be used on food purchases at resturants and/or food carts?
My little sister is planning on putting her cash on a gift card before we leave but I wanted to make sure she could still by her food with that as well. If not she will do a prepaid VISA but we are trying to save on the fees assciated with that.

I believe anywhere a credit card is taken they will also accept a gift card. The only place we ran into a problem was when we tried to pay for face painting with a gift card. It was cash only. I would assume most if not all of the roaming food carts also only take cash. :shrug:

when we went , i put a daily amount on my daughters card for her to spend on what ever she wanted instead of taking cash around with her, the accept them every where theres an electronic register basically. small carts face painting, caractures artists ect dont take them. she loved using it as it was like her own credit card.
little tip,the water parks do a small half size one, which is on a wrist band which was a great idea for kids as they cant loose it! we all got one each even the adults much easier than worring about wallets and cash. still got mine 2 years later will use it againg next trip in may!

Another tip, if you want a Disney Gift Card other than the generic Mickey design available at your local Disney Store, you can order different designs through the Disneyland website. (Note, they're not available from the WDW website, just Disneyland's).

The designs vary by the season, and some are Disneyland-specific designs, but they typically have at least 10 designs available. Plus, the last time I checked 2-day shipping is free with the Gift Card purchase!

The one drawback is that they're only available in $25, $50 and $100 values, but once you buy one, you can add more money at your local Disney Store.
