GIft Card Limit to pay for DW package?

Hi!

I called the reservation line today and said I planned to pay for a resort/park tickets/dining plan package with gift cards. I plan on doing the 10% deal at Target.

Anyway, the guy said there is a limit of 19 GC allowed to pay for the package. He advised me that I should get the higher denomination cards. I think Target only has $50 ones, so I don't know how to get around this.

Have you run into this? Does anyone have ideas on how to maximize the GC discount?

You can buy Disney Gift cards online at the Disney store for any amount and maybe you can pay for them with the Disney Gift Cards you have....so if you have say...$500 is gift cards in small denominations, call or go online and order another Disney Gift Card and use those to pay for it. You can also go to a Disney Store. See if that works....

19 seems like an odd number for Disney to choose. Perhaps someone else has other information on this? I know I recently read a trip report where someone paid with all gift cards... where oh where is she? Or maybe @Master Yoda has some info on this?

By the way, to what 10% deal are you referring?

I pay for half of my trip with Disney gift cards (we get them from relatives for every birthday, Christmas, etc.). Last time there was no limit to the number that I used (definitely more than 19). I did it all in one night with a very nice Disney CM who did not mind typing a seemingly endless amount of numbers into the computer for like 45 minutes. I was told at one time that there was no limit to the number of gift cards used if you call, but there is a $200 per day limit on the Internet site. I don't know if this policy has changed or not. I hope not since I am planning on making my final payment call in a few weeks and I have about 30 gift cards.

I read on the forums once someone went beyond the 5% with Target Redcard and used the Target pharmacy to receive another 5% off her Disney gift cards.

Yes- the 10% deal at Target allows you to buy a $50 Gift Card for $40 if you use your redcard+ the 5% off pharmacy rewards coupon.
I'm going to call them again and see if I get a different answer from the rep I speak with, I'll let you all know what I find out.
