getting to US/IOA on local roads

I'm trying to remember, because that is how I always got there (I'm from Apopka). There is a road right before Universal that heads left the way you are heading (I can't remember the name though). If you follow that, you'll come a cross a side entrance that is Hollywood Way. But even if you miss that one, you can drive past IOA (you can't miss Jurassic Park from the back), and there is a light to just turn left. Just follow the signs from there.

doh.. I misread this. It's Adventure/Hollywood way where you need to turn.

I know that I can take Palm Parkway to Turkey Lake Road, cross over Sand Lake Road, and continue on Turkey Lake Road. Do I then make a right onto Hollywood Way and follow the signs ?

That is exactly right. Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road to Hollywood Way. Couldn't be simpler.
