Getting from WL to International Gateway

I'd appreciate any advice on this problem.

I would like to enter Epcot via the International Gateway. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We will have a car.

What is the best way to do this?

Is it possible to do without involving the buses?

You would have to drive to one of the Epcot's resorts (Boardwalk,Beach and Yacht club) park there and then walk over. The problem is you are technically not allowed to park there long term if you are not staying there. Is there any particular reason that you want to enter through the international gateway?

There is public parking at the Boardwalk since it's a shopping/dining destination and is separate from the resort parking. It's a bit of a hike to the gateway though (but a short boat ride).

You could also take the bus the the Studios and then take the boat over to EPCOT. It is not a quick trip, but you can avoid the risk of the public lot at the boardwalk being full. You could also pay to valet park at the hotel and walk over or take the boat.

On our last trip, my MIL was with us and she has back problems so walking long distances is difficult for her and she has to take frequent rests. We spent one day just in the World Showcase so we took the bus from WL to the Studios and then the boat to the International Gateway. This option was less walking for her. And after a day in the WS, she rented an ECV for the rest of the trip.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of parking at Boardwalk and taking the boat. Is the parking for shopping in a different place than parking for the resort or do they share the lot?

Yoda,

The reason I want to enter through the Gateway is because we are spending a half-day at Epcot strictly in the World Showcase. I'm afraid if we entered through the main gate, the kids would never let us pass Soarin', Test Track, and Mission:Space. :)

When we stayed there in 2007, there were 3 lots at the Boardwalk...Valet, general hotel parking and public. Just tell the guard at the gate you are visiting the boardwalk to check things out and he will send you to the public lot. If you valet park your car at your resort on site you can valet park at the Boardwalk for free as you only pay once a day.
