getting closer....$$$ - resort opinions?

So I just successfully sold some things that had been just taking up space in the basement on eBay and that put us over the top for our savings to go to WDW in October.

We have previously stayed at Beach Club, WL, and POFQ. So far Beach Club was our favorite although for the same money we could also do AKL. Just wondering what you guys think? We like the fact that we can walk into the back of Epcot from BC and enjoyed that perk along with the awesome sand bottom pool. Never having stayed at AKL though I don't want to miss out if it is worth it, kind of sad though that you have to bus everywhere you want to go and I think that is the biggest thing that would keep us from booking there.

Also I noticed that the Contemporary is twice as much as any other deluxe resort including the Polynesian. We are looking at seven nights in October and all the other deluxes were around $4500 but the Contemporary was over $8K! Does anyone know the reason for this? I was wondering if it might be a glitch in the website or something but double the price seemed pretty crazy to me.

In any case we are headed to the world in October and will be doing the same thing with our DD that we did last time which is keeping it secret until the night before we leave. It makes our enjoyment that much better and we found that letting her know in advance makes the shine wear off by the time we actually go.

I stayed last may at AK in a 1br at KV and it was beautiful. Everything in the room is so new. The beds, even the pull out was comfortable. The bathrooms were amazing...we had a sv so seeing the animals right out your window was something we will never forget. The downside is the bus ride to mk is a little longer than we would have liked (sometimes 30-45min) and the pool on the kv side of the resort was on the small side. I love the ease of walking over to Epcot from the BW resorts and the restaurant choices it offers. They are both great resorts. Good luck making your choice.

AKL or one of the Epcot resorts are a tough choice. You really have to decide what feature is most important to you. AKL is an incredibly beautiful resort with some of the best restaurants on property but it is in a rather isolated location. From a theaming standpoint, that isolation is great but if you got use to 10 minute walks to Epcot and DHS, it might leave a bit of a sour taste in your mouth.

I am not sure why you are coming up with such a high price at the Contemporary. I just priced 6 nights (room only) in a deluxe garden wing room and the total was only $3208. The only way I could get it to reach as high as $8k was to select a 1br suite which was about $7800. A garden view at the Poly was $3208 and an outer building garden view at GF was $3476.

So tonight I go on and for the same travel dates (oct 10-17) I got...

Beach club $4333

Contemporary $5396

Just wondering if the price difference is normal (yesterday it said $8100 for the Contemporary). I realize the difference in that one is on the monorail loop and next door to MK but it seems like a big difference considering they are both in the same deluxe category. If it is normal then is it worth it? Just curious, I have always wanted to stay at the contemporary since I first visited when I was 9 (I am 40 now...:() but not quite sure if I can swallow that kind of price difference.

Our favorite by far is the Beach Club. Even with no monorail, the location cannot be beat. You have Epcot, the Boardwalk, and Hollywood studios all within walking distance. Best pool of all the resorts, and great rooms too. Yes the monorail is nice but the Contemporary is always loud and crowded. The new villas there are nice but the main building is the oldest resort at Disney.

Again, I am not sure why you seem to be pulling up prices that are so high, unless you are including tickets and dining. One thing I did notice is the lowest priced room available for your dates at the Contemporary is a tower theme park view. This is one of the most expensive room categories at the Contemporary and in WDW for that matter. The garden wing rooms are nearly half that price but they are booked up for your dates.

Yes, including park passes with park hopper option. I am hoping for free dining to be offered but that is not in the prices that I ran. Would prefer garden view room as standard room is a bit of a let down...did it once at BC club level and was disappointed so I prefer garden view at the least.

I guess I should note that it is two adults and a nine year old DD when running prices.
