Getting a Part Time Job at Disney?

Hi everyone!

I recently just moved to the Orlando area with my family, and am in search of a temporary (6 months or so) part time job. I love all things Disney World related, so of course my first instinct was to apply at WDW!

I submitted an application for Attractions online a few weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to the timeframe it might take to hear back regarding my application? When I submitted it, it stated they could take up to six months to review my application - is that really the case? I am wondering if I should start applying elsewhere, because I do not want to be waiting around for a job....but on the other hand, I don't want to accept another job, only to hear from Disney after that.

I am going into the military sometime this winter (unknown date at this point, but probably between November and February). I think having a job at Disney would give a great opportunity to have some fun and make money before that, which is why I kind of have my heart set on getting a job there.

However, because I am planning on getting only a temporary job for approximately 6 months, would Disney not want to hire me if they knew I wouldn't be staying long-term?

Any insight would be very helpful!

Thank you so much!
Melissa

If they said 6 months then, unfortunately, it could be up to six months. Of course it could be next week but there really is no way of knowing. Due to the economy I would imagine that Disney is not really looking for a wealth of temporary CMs since a lot of people are currently applying for full time jobs. Coupled with thousands of college program interns coming in every semester and another couple thousand of seasonal employees the odds aren't in your favor. That being said, Disney does of course take some temporary employees so don't loose hope!!

My advice, start looking for another job but don't loose hope in Disney. It's a fantastic company to work for and I hope you get the opportunity!! Good Luck!!

From what I have heard, you may just want to visit the Casting Center, and apply in person. Others may be able to offer insight into whether or not to mention that you submitted an application online as well while there.

Thank you both for your help!

I didn't realize I could visit the Casting Center in person without already having an interview scheduled, otherwise I would have went there right away to apply in person instead of online. I think I will head over there this week and see if I can apply again in person.

But yes, hopefully someone would be able to provide insight as to whether or not that would be a good idea considering I already applied online.

Thanks again for your responses...I appreciate it!

One of the first questions you get asked on the hourly CM application is "Have you applied for a job with WDW in the past six months?" If the answer is yes, you can't apply again.

i went to casting and applied for part and full-time and was put on a waiting list.

someone i work with went to casting and was given part-time on the spot.

naturally, i was a bit angry, so i went back to casting and they told me every part-time opening in the role i wanted and i became part-time on the spot.

This has to do with the online interview. You can only take it once every 6 months and you need to pass it to get an interview for a job.

I dont know about the theme parks directly, but I know that disney will hire you for things like DTD positions if they knew you weren't staying too long. LEGO for instance had someone that was hired for I think 4 months, and they had a bunch of temporary college program people there as well. If you worked in DTD you still get the disney benefits of going to the parks whenever you'd like and such...

And about that online application..there are two major loopholes in the system where that 6 month waiting period can be overrided. It typically takes roughly a month for them to get to sending you the online questionaire if they like your application.
