I saw this on the Mouseplanet website for anyone who has been wondering what has happened to the Genie in The Cyborlator at DisneyQuest....He has been freed and they Walled up the window that had the effect...Here's the photo from Mouseplanet..

I found this to be a great Effect and it's a shame that TDO Fails again and rely on the Rizzo Factor.

I used to go to Disney Quest every weekend when they first opened, but its decline over the years makes it hard to go back. I finally took my husband for his first time, three weeks ago, and he would have loved the cyborlator since he likes the Genie, but it was disappointmenting that they boarded up the wall. The whole Quest is kinda junkie now. If it weren't for our Premium AP, we wouldn't have bothered to go at all. My husband told me he doesn't need to ever go again. It's as if they put it there with all its glory, and then forgot about it. Probably one more thing they outsourced. Everything they outsource goes to junk, the people they contract to maintain don't care like real Disney people do. If TOD doesn't want to maintain it with their own magic, why don't they just kill it all together instead of leaving it to rot?

i wasn't impressed with Disney Quest. we'd never been so in 2010 we decided to give it a go as some friends had said it was good; boy, what a let down. the games are ancient, there are kids running amok around the place, it smells, the floors are sticky, it just wasn't much fun. we stayeda bout an huor and went on 2 things. i suppose at least we got to see the genie! although i could tell it wasn't robin williams :s
i'm sure when it opened it was cutting edge but i think unless they are going to update some of the games and get the place cleaned up, they just need to get rid. unfortunately i think that if they take that away, with pleasure island being closed and the balloon being MIA at the moment, downtown disney would just be one big waste of time.

I've never been to Disney Quest but am considering it. Based on the posts above I shouldn't go. So should I go or not??

I like the classic video games, but they are all 30 years old and pretty bad shape for the most part.

For the afternoon storms, I spent a few hours in Disney Quest, watched a movie AMC, then went back to the parks after the storms passed.

DisneyQuest is a dump. Plain and simple. I used to go occasionally since I have a Premium Annual Pass. This next year though, I will be downgrading to a regular annual pass, and a separate water parks annual pass. Even if there ends up being a $20 difference between doing that - or renewing as a Premium...DisneyQuest isn't worth it. It wasn't that great to begin with, and it has just gotten worse as time has marched on. I think it's time for Disney to close the place down and stop embarrassing themselves.

We have gone to DQ every year since 2001. This will be the first year that we are not going. We no longer see any value in getting the "Water Park Fun & More Option". We do not due the water parks, and only used the option for DQ. But since DQ is so "Run Down" there is no need or desire to visit it anymore.

Spend your money on something else. DQ is not worth the time or money as it is right now. And I loved DQ when I went to it 2001 - 2010. Since 2011 to present, it is a lousy place.

DQ isn't THAT bad...but it's not amazing either. Aside from adding new games now and then, it's been greatly neglected.

The genie elevator ride was one of my favorite things at WDW.

I don't understand why they would cut it. It was pretty much just on a screen right? C'mon.

The other downside is that the games are free. The younger kids will stay for 30 or 40 minutes regardless if there is a line a people waiting for a particular game. Their parents don't seem to care either. I'll take a turn and one extra and I'll vacate for the next patron. When you have to pay for each indivual game, Susie or Johnny's parents won't fork over the money for extended play.

Back when it opened it was similar to Gameworks & Dave And Busters...They realized that they couldn't compete with them..That's why the one in Philadelphia didn't make it up to foundation and that's it and then they went for all free games at the end of Chicago's life and it's been like that ever since..

Seems like most of Disney has been dropping lately then. Thanks for the help :)
