Garden View Tea Room @ Grand Floridian- food questions

Is the amount of food served with afternoon tea comparable to eating lunch?
Can items be ordered separately or is the only option to order one complete package? I'm wondering if there are add on items?
We usually do a table service lunch so I'm trying to figure out if a reservation for tea substitutes for lunch, or do I need to plan on doing both? We generally don't eat dinner until quite late at Disney and tend to need one substantial meal earlier in the day.

Yes, it is very comparable to lunch. You can only order the packages now, and cannot add-on food items. You can add additional beverages, such as wine, beer, coffee, etc. This is what you get as a minimum with the cheapest package - the Bedfordshire Tea:
First Course
Medley of finger sandwiches accompanied with berries, cheese, and lavosh
-
Second Course
Buttery Scone and Jam Tart
-
Finale
Choice of delicate House-Made Pastries, Strawberries and Creme, or English Trifle

Accompanied by your choice of tea
(charge for additional pots of tea)
$35

The tea is done only from 2-5pm every day, so would be a late lunch. We would not want to do a TS lunch, and then the tea. It is way too much food for us if we would do both. We try to eat an early QS lunch at someplace like CHH, then a later tea around 4:30 or so. Works as an early dinner for us. We love it!!

@LuvtheGoof , Thanks for taking the time to post a detailed response. My understanding is that the band starts playing at 3:00 so I wanted to wait until at least then to arrive anyway. I think we'll eat something light in the late morning and then do the tea around 4:00. Maybe we'll skip the dinner ADR and just do appetizers at one of the lounges late evening. Thanks again for your input.

You're welcome - and that sounds like a great plan!
