What are some areas of the GS experience that you'd want to see improved? What would you change and how? How would you Imagineer a "better" Galactic Starcruiser? Different Activities. Thematic changes. Story changes.

I watched one of the videos of the lightsaber training and I just don't understand what is going on. Nobody looks like they are having fun as they wait for another beam of light to emit. This technology and the way it's implemented is less advanced than playing Force Unleashed (where you play as Vader's secret apprentice) on the Wii which was released in 2008.

Also does anyone know if the VR from the void made it into the Starcruiser? The reviews for that experience were good and it was something I always wanted to try before it shut down. Based on those reviews it seems that would have been a nice addition.

The CM's frantic energy and script helps but the entire room is a visual bore with everything being washed by UV light. It doesn't help that the "low energy" beam effects are barely visible and of the same monochromatic hue. The fix, IMHO would be to see Lightsaber Training reworked as a game with a top points total, a scoreboard and a declared winner to encourage competition amongst all of the lightsaber trainees. How many hits can you rack up!?

If doable, making the "energy beams" a different color would be the best budget improvement. To that, whenever the lightsaber comes into contact with the beam it should change color (white?) to show a "hit" with an accompaning strobe effect on the saber's hilt and wall. Overall it's a cool idea but there's not much to keep anyone invested.

I don't get the whole Larping thing. When I'm on vacation I don't want to use my imagination and pretend to be someone or something else.

It would have been much better if they just made it like "Art of Animation", with 4 sections themed to different planets from the movies. Picture what a huge Darth Vader and Yoda would have looked like. It would have been frigging awesome.

Honestly the whole thing could’ve been way better using AR or VR. Wear something like Luke’s force training helmet, then use some WEB Slingers type neural network body tracking to allow you to block shots, use force powers, floating drone, etc.

If I had to work with the current establishment. I'd get rid of all the human-like aliens like Gaya and the weird purple Captain. They just feel lame and they take me out of the theming. They look like they belong on a kids show on the Disney Channel.

As for the lobby and restaurant they should have large windows looking out into space. What's the point of being in space if you can't see it? Also for some reason the tables and chairs look like they got them at the All Star resorts. Have a little class Disney you're charging enough. Gaya doesn't sing bad, but her dining room show is incredibly lame. She is easily changeable with Figrin D'an, who we've actually seen in a Star Wars movie.

A lot of people are talking about the fight scene. It's obvious that Rey is switching lightsabers when she bends over. The switch could be easier to hide if Kylo used the force and threw Rey to the ground. I don't know what they were thinking with that oversight.

Problem: The lightsaber training room script feels like it doesn’t correctly convey the level of danger that could make it exciting. In the script, they say the beam that you can see which you are trying to block is just the targeting system, NOT the actual laser. While this works to explain why there isn’t an actual blaster, it doesn’t convincingly raise the stakes enough to make people care.

Fix: Use an undercover actor (Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular-Style) to play a guest who isn’t paying attention during the instructions, is asked to volunteer, and then misses the targeting beam before getting “hit” by the real beam with body mounted pyrotechnics to sell the effect and a follow up tongue-in-cheek script to get him to a medical droid for treatment (clearing space for the real guests).

At that point, you haven’t just explained away the shortcoming of the experience, but have demonstrated the plausibility of the experience in a comedic and exciting way that elevates the rest of the experience.

The only way to redo this is to start from scratch.

The way the Starcruiser is designed is catered towards a family of 4, from the pricing to the watered down Star Wars theme. If I was a 5 year old, I probably would enjoy this, partly because it's Star Wars but also because as a kid it's fun to role play in such an environment.

Despite the absurd $6K for the family of 4, the way Disney prices are going, if you wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian, get theme park tickets, and food for 2 nights, it might run you $5K or more. That's not an excuse for the prices but I bet it's what families who travel down every few years will consider.

I don't like the direction this is going because I can see most entertainment or interactivity at Disney now becoming an upcharge. All of what's in the Starcruiser was promised for Galaxy's Edge, with the Starcruiser being a step beyond that.

They shot themselves in the foot by setting a timeline between The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. Forget that the films themselves got mixed reviews, but you have centuries of lore in Star Wars and you chose a 'gap year' in Star Wars where not much exciting canonically is happening.

Other than Rey fighting Kylo Ren and Chewy waving, you have to create your own characters because the ones fans know are either dead or too old.

The reason why Star Tours has lasted all these years is because it has the George Lucas influence. You're fighting an uphill battle when you not only have budget cuts but you're trying to emulate a vision designed by someone else but also pave your own way.

So you wind up with this Star Trek-The Fifth Element vibe.

They need better filler. Space Bingo and Dance Class 101 need to go ASAP. Is there anything they can do with Porgs? Like a wrangler or smuggler storyline as cargo? The way I see it if they can't have decent activities give us unique M&Gs. Jawas scavenger hunt? Something.

Yeah, meet and greets seem like the answer. If it's going to be pricey like a cruise ship it should at least have some of the same things as it.

- a broadway style play
- an extensive buffet, walkups and table services
- meet and greets
- bigger stores
- water slides
- and pools and hot tubs

Give visitors a selection of planets to choose from, from all three trilogies at least, for their rooms, giving the settings variety and an element of choice to visitors. Some ideas could include Naboo, Genosis, Kamino, Yavin IV, Endor, Bespin, Dagobah, Hoth, Kashykk, Utapau, Christophis, Coruscant, Tatooine, and even Mustafar. This would really emphasize the “Starcruiser” part, and theme the hallways of those floors accordingly to add further atmosphere. Instead of mere screens, the scenes combine projections with physical sets, some of which can also be viewed from outdoors. The activity list is tweaked and expanded; instead of that Twi’lek singer being our only option, she is more of a host, presenting multiple Audio Animatronic acts with her live performance being the finale. Who are these animatronic acts? The Max Rebo Band, Modal Nodes, and more. Other activities include a sort of “casino” (which works more like a redemption arcade with exclusive machinery), a petting zoo with animatronic critters, plus the droid and lightsaber building experiences, and a few pools themed to Naboo, Dagobah, etc.

My husband is there now with my dad and their Starcruiser magic bands didn't work for the room. They took their luggage so that they could start the journey and now have called me trying to get ahold of him to tell him that they have lost their luggage. They even went to our vehicle and attempted to offload the luggage in it thinking it was theirs. They're not--the luggage in our Jeep are mine and my son's. We are arriving in two days for our 15 night trip at BWV. Here's hoping they returned my lugguage back to the vehicle and find my husband's and dad's luggage. So what can be improved, well not losing people's luggage. 🤣 I told my husband he better get a gift card out of this or something as he left his house and our other Jeep's keys in his bag. 🤪 I figured that they will most likely find them by the end of the journey regardless.
