As many of us already know you can always add a dining plan to a ticketless reservation if you are an AP holder or a DVC member.
Well as they say you learn something new every day. I just found out today that ANYONE who books any room at a Disney Resort can add a dining plan WITHOUT adding tickets as well if you call yourself to add it or use a TA.
You CANNOT do it when booking online though the CM told her you have to call to be able to do this.
I was dumbfounded because all I have ever read anywhere or heard anywhere including reputable authorized Disney travel agents, including WDW's official website does not mention this loophole.
I saw the actual proof of this from a person (her confirmation page etc) that booked only a room and added the dining plan to it by calling herself, and they are not AP members, military, or DVC members/renting points either. She and her friends all were able to do the same for their trip earlier this month that they booked back in Sept.
Before I joined DVC and before I had an AP I always booked a room only discount offer and added tickets and dining not knowing I could of just added the dining plan if I wanted to.
This info is not needed for me anymore as I am a DVC member and usually have an AP as well so I always add dining without adding tickets as well. But this will be welcome news to many I know that love the dining plan and rather buy tickets elsewhere or have older tickets they need to use.
I did not see this specifically posted anywhere in these forums about this exact situation and if it's common knowledge I'm sorry. I'm usually up to date on things like this and the whole you learn something new every day is true even for a WDW nerd like me. Haha!
*****And I know I may have some opposition to this fact but believe me I made sure before I passed this along. I argued that this cannot happen nicely of course, and she proved me dead wrong. Lol.
Maybe this is something new that has not been passed along and could not have been done before the last 6 months or so. Don't know but she and others she knows did it recently.
Hoping this does not mess up my usual knowledgable reputation on here. Lol
