We are thinking about staying in the Fort Wilderness cabins with our two year old son. Has anyone stayed here with children of similiar ages and, if so, how did it work out? Also, how is the boat ride to Magic Kingdom. We will be renting a car so we will driving to the other parks. We currently have reservations at the BWV but are thinking that there might be more things for the little guy to do and more room to run around at FW. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!!

I love FW! I have never stayed there with a two year old however.

The cabin itself had plenty of room to strech out, when the baby naps you can have some quiet time in another room and still be right there. There is a full kitchen, all the comforts of home, plates, cookware, silverware and my personal fav....a dishwasher, bunk beds, murphy bed in the LR and full size bed in with the bunked beds. I know there is a playpen/sleeper/crib thing there too, in the hall closet. Picnic table out side on the porch and a grill, if you want. Two TV's, dvd players. Campstores to get the essentials, milk, lunch meat, frozen meals and everything you might find at a small grocery store. Full maid service every day, or not, depending on what you want to do. If you leave to go to the parks and leave a sink full of dirty dishes, when you return after a long day...the kitchen is clean, dishwasher run etc...can't beat that!

The campground has play areas, petting zoo, sandy beach area, golf cart rentals (fun and pricey, rent/reserve one now!), Disney drive in movie each night complete with camp fire and sing along, roasted marshmellows and smores. Bike rentals, boat rentals, two non-themed pools (plain), wagon rides. I could go on and on...I think everyone would love the place. It is not primative, it is not roughing it.

The boat ride to MK is great fun, takes about 10 minutes (if that). The electric light parade (forgot what it is called!) is on the lake at night too, fun to watch, especailly for small ones.

Good luck in your choice! Have fun on your vacation!

We have been there with our young grandchildren (3&5) and we're going in October with our 23 month old grandson. It's a perfect place for kids. It's like being home only with a maid and entertainment. The bedroom is a perfect place to put the baby down for a nap and the parents can sit in the living room, have a toddie or just chill out waiting for Jr to wake up. It's almost too quiet! There's plenty of room for the youngster to run around and if you want to take a walk around the loop you can see peacocks and other beautiful woods area and the little one gets tired out too. Rent a golf cart and take him/her for a ride to the petting zoo or just to look at things. There's tons to look at. If he/she doesn't sleep take him for a ride to look at the campers lights, he will be tired by the fresh air and be asleep in your arms before long. There's no noise from neighbors either.
Have a great time!
