Future of the Universe of Energy?

I think I remembered reading somewhere that exxonmobil has decided to quit funding UoE :(

What does this mean about the future of this great pavilion?

I would say I have mixed feelings about Ellen's presence. I thought the new show was entertaining, but I just miss the old format. Were it me, I would have made the follow changes long ago to the current format:

1. firstly, no Ellen AA. That was just stupid, and it was way cooler when the scary dino swooped over the car. Little kids deserve to be scared; builds character.

2. completely nixed the whole "broadcast" room/theatre, where you just sit in the dark listening to some incoherent babbling about what happens in the span of about 65 million years. yawn.
I would have moved the final movie of Ellen winning jeopardy into this theatre and wrapped that part of the show up.

3. lastly, I would have kept the KICKASS universe of energy song that used to be in the final theatre, kept the mirror-motif of the theatre (since it corresponds to the outside of the building) and would have made a more awesome movie using images from the original show (impressive images, of course). Going into this final presentation, I would have had ellen say something to kick it off, so as to tie the two segments together.

That's just my 2 cents. I wish I were an imagineer...

 Been my motto for years and when I say it all I get is a slap from my girlfriend. If you don't RAISE your kids on rides they will NEVER come to like them.

Take my little brother for example, now 16 years old. Never in his 10+ trips to Disney has he been "forced" to go on anything. If he didn't want to go on Thunder Mountain, "mommy" sat out with him. If he didn't want to go on Test Track, "daddy" sat out with him. Thus he's turned into the biggest "Peter Pan's Flight is the most intense thing I'll do" person in the world. I absolutely HATE it because every time we go to Disney my family splits on like 25% or more of the attactions because either he or my dad doesn't want to do it. They refuse to do:

Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Mission Space, Test Track, Rock 'n Roller Coaster, and Body Wars.

In Universal Islands of Adventure all they will do is Dr. Suess.

It's not only embarrasing but it's annoying. Anywho, I just hijacked this thread. Moving on.....!

I've only done the UoE once, and it's a pretty good, sit-down ride to relax. To me I like the Ellen AA, she has good...moves. But yeah I agree to not let the Jeopardy scene, be 2 show rooms. But Bill Nye is annoying, and boring. I wish that was the only part they would get rid of is him.

Yes, you must be from the school of thought that includes putting your kids on bikes and rolling them down steep hills, and just picking them up throwing them into the deep end of the pool. They'll learn to swim in no time. At least that's how I learned. Gosh, if CPS only knew some of the things my parents did to us kids to "build character."

Don't be so hard on your brother. You are probably totally unable to relate to this, but for a lot of people all the sudden jerky movements, things coming out at them and lound sharp noises are more than just not to their taste - it can be physically quite painful.

It's called Sensory Deffensiveness, and affects a lot of people. If you are like this, then you may want to look it up (try the book Too Lound, Too bright or something like that - can't remember the title completely). Thats why people like us aren't always into rollercoasters and the like.

That is why I liked Disney - there was more to it than just the thrill rides, which for me are anything but thrilling. Only now it seems all Disney does is tear down the old rides and put up a rollercoaster. It becomes nothing more enjoyable than any other amusement park, and ruins the magic.

Keep the magic alive!

No, no, this isn't just limited to Disney. He's just a coward all around. He sleeps with the light on, won't play any contact sports, hangs out with our mom like 24/7, etc. etc.

To me, if you don't TRY something you will never know what it's like.

UOE

I like the UOE in theory. I am not crazy about the pre show. Not crazy about Ellen, for no purpose other than I dont find her that funny. I think they tried to make it a little too comical to where it got cheesey. I dont like the Ellen AA, it's just making the show a comic show.

change the preshow and I love the attraction!

That built my character!

DisneyJoey,

I didn't want to ride any of those rides until I CHOSE to do so when I was 20 years old. I love them now and will go on anything. When I was about 5, we were at a local theme park and my dad forced me on a small rollercoaster. I hated it. It put a fear inside my head that lasted until I finally got up the courage to try Rock'n'Rollercoaster.

My friends made fun of me in high school because I wouldn't ride anything. And I'm the first to admit, I was scared of those types of rides. My point is this, you can't know what goes on in someones head...whatever reason your brother won't go on some rides is totally his business...just enjoy your vacation(s) and don't impose your desires on someone else. He'll ride if/when he wants to, and in the meantime, if you are at all like my friends were to me, all you're doing by complaining or making fun of him is pushing him further away from riding. At least, that's what they did to me.

Just my 2 cents...can't wait for my next RnR ride...and it means alot more to me because I conquered my fear on my OWN! Woohoo!

I like your idea of bringing back the UOE song...I hate that when they decided to rehab things a while back that the songs were cut from nearly all the attractions from SpaceShip Earth to JII to UOE. At least they brought back the Imagination song and gave MS its own theme song (with words), so maybe they could bring back the UOE song.

I personally like the Ellen version. Before it was just too serious. The new version goes a little lighter on the details and a little heavier on a comedic feel, which helps to keep people's attention I think. I agree, lose the Ellen animatronic. It helps to tie the movies into the ride part, but looked better with just the dinos there.

The babbling radiocast is pretty boring if you are the first of the three cars to enter the theater. But it is there because another two cars need to enter the theater afterwards. If you are in the last train into the theater, you hear virtually none of that radio stuff...its nothing more than a time filler...but I admit something better could go there to fill the time.

Since they are changing future world to discovery world(or whatever it is), and people really only ride UOE for the dinosaurs so i say just turn it into a dinosaur dark ride call Valley of the Dinosaurs. The story can be an excavation site turned up a hidden evironment where dinosaurs still live. It'd be a nice idea for AK if they didn't all ready have dinosaur, because that park needs some help, but I won't get started. And I like the original UOE theme as well, but there is certainly no hope of that coming back because they surely thought it was out of date when they canned it.

I really like the old UoE, but then I'm old skool :drevil: I would like to see a blend of the old and new. And bring back the song!!! It's so catchy, I'm singing it in my head right now, just from someone mentioning it! :sohappy:

vastly perfer the new version. it's funny, it's got a great soundtrack, and it really livens up a show I used to dread going on.

and I hated that dino that popped up out of the lake so I thought the Ellen AA right there was really funny. :)
