Any suggestions for Fun things to do at the Contempory? We are staying there for the 1st (and probably only$$$) time in Dec. Since it is maxing out our budget we want to make the most out of spending time in the resort.

I love the contemporary! We stayed for the first time in April. We loved the pool, very relaxing. Concourse Steakhouse was great for breakfast. Watch Wishes from the roof! Have a drink at the Outer Rim! Dinner at the California Grill... Shop!! Rent a boat!! Walk along the beach!! Chill on the balconey of your room! The list goes on, I love that resort and being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom is definately the coolest! Enjoy!! Oh don't forget the arcade... we played pool and the kids loved the games!

The arcade is awesome! Although I remember it in the old days when they had the air rifle game, it is still pretty impressive today. The Outer Rim is a great place to get a drink and California Grill is great, even if you go up for just the scenary. You could always crash a convenetion if one is in town :)

WATERMICE! WATERMICE! WATERMICE!
These are great, especially when you wake hop the ferry (Don't get to close to the boat though, you'll get warned by the Lagoon Cops). Also the Bay Lake area gets really choppy when everybody gets out there in the afternoon (Contemporary, Ft. Wildernes, Wilderness Lodge). Everyone comes to this side from the other resorts too on 7 Seas Lagoon. Be ready for the Regularly Scheduled Storm (Not Hurricane...Thunder Storm between 3pm and 5pm). If you have a family, like I do, Have :unch out in the Lake on a pontoon boat. We do this every time we go for a family picnic. We just get food from the food court at the wilderness lodge and have fun (I say wilderness Lodge because we prfer that resort on that side of the Lagoon, our other hotel preference is Grand FLA).

I second the arcade and people watching.

Once when we were there without kids, my wife took a nap around 3:00pm, but I could not sleep. So I told her I was going out for a beer. I rode the monorail to EPCOT and got a black and tan at the Rose and Crown. I love being on the monorail line. If only the other parks were on it.

I also enjoy getting off at the GF and Poly and just exploring.

Take a walk around the perimeter of the Contemporary Resort. The area behind the North Garden Wing (near Bay Lake) and the area on the side of the South Garden Wing (near the water bridge) are very peaceful.

Everything you said was pretty much right on, except for this. There are no afternoon storms in December like there are in the summer months.

The main pool has a fun waterslide, my kids loved it. Be sure to watch the Electrical Water Pageant at about 10 pm on Bay Lake. The best views are from the beach, though you can see it from many of the rooms too.

I'd make sure to see the Electrical Water Pageant.

Have a breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I ate my money's worth in strawberries alone! haha

And for something unique, take a parasailing excursion over Bay Lake. Flying tandem is cheaper, it was about 40-50 bucks a person if I remember correctly. It's a remarkably smooth trip that offers beautiful views of the entire WDW Resort, let alone the Magic Kingdom and MK Resorts. You could see all the way to Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach and other far off places. It was very memorable. Also, have anyone who is in the boat with you take a picture of you at the highest point, with the Contemp. in the foreground. You're so much higher than it, and it's cool to be flying above that futuristichotel and have a picture to prove it. And have a camera up top with you for some pictures.

Have a great stay!!

Head up to the California Grill for Wishes. Grab yourself a drink at the bar and head out to the balconies on the north side of the building. It's the perfect perch to sit and watch the fireworks. You almost feel like you're looking down into Tomorrowland.

Definetly go parasailing! It's proabably one of the most memorable thing I've ever done at Disney. The view is amazing, something that not everyone gets to see. I want to say it was like $70 for my boyfriend and I to go tandum. I can't remember the exact price because we used our "wishes" on it.

A couple more questions....

Is there a food court at Contemporary because I only hear people talking about Chef Mickey's which I thought was a buffet?

Is the monorail line to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot each direct or do you have to change again once you get on at the Contemporary?

Sorry if the questions seem lame, but we were thinking of staying at the Contemporary next time we go and have never stepped foot on the property. POR really was horrible to us this past stay and we have stayed at WL a couple of times so now we were leaning to the trusty old icon of Contemporary.

The Food and Fun Center is an alternate to Chef Mickey's. It has a food court variety but it's only one place -- does that make sense? Chef Mickey's is a buffet, there is also the California Grill there, and the Concourse Steakhouse, too.

Monorail to MK will take you first to the TTC, then Poly then GF before getting to the Mk. In other words, you ride the entire resort loop to get there. Returning from the MK, CR is the first stop. To get to Epcot from CR you take the Monorail to the TTC, then transfer at the TTC to continue on to Epcot.

We did not like POFQ when we were there. There was nothing wrong with it per se, it just was not us. We stayed at CR and loved it. Now, it's a toss up between CR and AKL for us.

Enjoy your trip!

Just some clarification ...

The Food and Fun Center is located on the 1st floor. It's too small to be considered a food court. Sandwiches, salads, snacks, fruit, drinks, etc. can be purchased. A small menu of grilled items can be purchased depending on the time of day.

Chef Mickey's is located on the 4th floor (Concourse). Chef Mickey's serves buffet items for breakfast and dinner. Several Disney characters wander through the restaurant during your meal.

The Concourse Steakhouse is also located on the 4th floor.

The California Grill is located on the roof of the Contemporary Resort tower.

The Sand Bar is a small counter service shack that's located in the marina building. It is only opened during certain times of the year and is only opened in good weather.
