Full Planning Mode .... when?!?!?!

OK, you and your family decided on the dates for your next Disney vacation... Sometimes as far out as 2 years for some, others a year or less.. We normally book a year to 9 months out. Resort decided on, and have a general idea of what restaurants we want to try... My FULL planning mode goes into effect exactly 181 days out, not 185 days or 183 days out... but exactly 181 days. By that time, my TA has my wish list ADRs and I am ready to pounce on somewhat of a schedule.. So tell me, when do you and your families go all out with schedules and must dos?

We've decided to move our annual September Disney trip to December this year. Even though we are 127 days until dining reservations and 304 days for arrival, I am in full planning mode. It's never too early to plan and strategize! I haven't officially booked yet because I am trying to wait and see if there are any fall/winter discounts. If I haven't received a pin code or discount announced by the end of March or beginning of April, I'm booking! I'm afraid I won't get my desired room view.

I think my thing is, once I am SET on ADRs (BIG reason we visit during F&W) Im afraid to plan anything out LOL I dont overplan, sorta? I make my ADRs then plan what park we will be visiting that particular day. (always leave space for wiggle room) The must dos in the parks, kind of goes to the way side. If I dont get to do a ride/experience on a particular day, I fit it in during my vacation. Thank Goodness for park hopper tix!!! LOL

I do the opposite...I start researching on touringplans.com and make out my park itinerary then I make the list of dining choices. I get up early that morning to book my dining reservations and usually get our desired choices. The park hopper option is a must for us!

we usually book then wait for any discount, then have it adjusted later. that doesnt mean we stay at the resort we originally booked though. we try to pick our ADRs way in advance so on day 180, we get up early and go online to book. for our trip next week, we booked in Sept at BW. We have since changed to GF once AP rates came out. We booked our July trip on January 1!! Made ADRs for that trip on day 180. Still undecided where will will stay, but we are leaning to splitting YC and POFQ. Having a trip booked for so long makes it feel like its so close, no matter how many days, weeks, or months we have to wait!!!

I'm pretty much like you. I'm going pretty much the same week you are, but i booked on November 30 last year. I'm going nuts waiting for my ADR day, which is June 10.

I do things a little different, I figure out what parks we are going to, then figure out our ADR's after that. We tend to stay away from the parks that have EMH each day, so once I figure out a park plan, I insert the ADR's. We don't normally eat at the places that you need to book at 180 days out to get seat. I did try to book Liberty Tree for Thanksgiving in 2011 but even at 180 days out it had no seats at any time. We ended up eating at Whispering Canyon at it was a great meal, and just a short boat ride to and from MK. I am planing for a December 2013 trip, but we are still a ways away from being able to start making concrete plans due to my kids colleges final schedules for fall semester.

We started about at 12 months trying to decided where to stay. Once we figured that out we made our reservations. Then as a family of five everyone gets to pick a resturant of their choice. THEN we wait for the schedule of park hours so we can figure out where we want to be on what days. THEN we wait for 180 days to make our ADR's. THEN I drive the family nuts talking about our trip everyday till we leave. :D They love it just as much as I do they just like to make fun of their momma.
