In an interview with Fortune Magazine Bog Iger takes about Frozen's success and confirms that Disney is in discussions to develop a Broadway show, though there is no set time frame. "We're not demanding speed," he says. "We're demanding excellence."

"I realized, 'My goodness, Disney Animation is where it rightfully belongs,'" -Bob Iger

He also talks about franchise potential (not more films) but the fact the characters translate well into all areas of the Disney company.

Very encouraging comments from Mr. Iger, both the excellence comment (which is exactly the way it should be) and the comment about Disney Animation department. I said when I saw the film that "Disney is back" doing what they do best.

Of course the "franchise" comment gives me a little bit of a "chill," so to speak. (I hate the rampant explosion of business school talk in the creative community.) I do know that it is a business, and that Walt himself was very good at "franchises" and "synergy" (another b-school term that is overused by the Walt Disney Company today), but both of those things come best when they are natural outgrowths of the story or movie and don't seem forced. I think this time he might be right. There are lots of things at the parks and otherwise that this movie can inspire. I just hope they keep it balanced and fun, and stop when it feels forced.
