If this is the start of a trend, we're moving towards a music model, where you can subscribe (i.e. Apple Music or Spotify) and get new music the day it's released. Not much point in buying a movie like Frozen 2 if you're also a Disney+ subscriber. This narrow release window means people will choose one or the other option.

I’m wondering if they’ll move tRoS to Disney+ sooner as well. I still haven’t watched it, and I’m looking at a future of free time in the next couple of weeks.

Sooner than originally planned is possible, but I wouldn't expect Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ anytime soon. The retail disc release is March 31, and Disney won't undercut their retail partners with a move that could impact sales at brick and mortar locations.
