From Dr. Seuss

Was at Epcot theme park EMH and went inside the saddest area of the theme park aka "Imagination" and there was a family who just exited the ride that stopped by the Figment plush display. The son asked if the plush is a Disney character and if so he has not seen it before (even though they just got off the ride) and the dad said he had no idea either. The mom pipes in "Oh, this is from Dr. Seuss!" and the boy and dad both agreed.

Hah!

A whole family of idiots!
^You took the words right out of my mouth. How dare they not have the complete 100% Disney knowledge that we have. Casting judgement upon them on this interweb forum will surely teach them the error of their ways. (And it also makes us feel somewhat better about our own insecurities).

Idiots...ALL of them!

They paid money to a company you love.
Their and other people like their attendance helps keep the park you love alive.
Without people like this Disney probably wouldn't exist.
You don't need a degree in Disney to enjoy it... heck I know a lot less than most people on here.

Does that make me any less of a fan? No
Does it make me enjoy Disney any less ? Hell no
Am I less important than someone who knows more about me? Absolutely not.

Snobery is a terrible thing.

You can feel free to join us in judging this family, but please keep talk like quoted above elsewhere.

The sad thing is, had Imagination been back to the original version, (or some reasonable update of it with Dreamfinder and it being practically all about Figment in every scene) instead of what's there, there wouldn't have been a question of who Figment is.

What baffles me is that Disney now is all about the merchandising after the ride, moreso than the 80s, so wouldn't it be smarter and more profitable to return full focus to Figment instead of the travesty that's there?

I think if done properly, kids would really respond to him. Moreso than Duffy. A bear is a bear is a bear. There's Build-A-Bear already. There's only one Figment.

Agreed. I guess the logic is, why build a bear when you can get one pre-made from Korea (or wherever they are manufactured)? But you're right about the traditional Disney story approach to characters. Even Duffy has an affectionate back story. Figment, well, he used to

And who decided on the name "Duffy" anyway? It's only one vowel away from Daffy. :brick:

I'm sorry, you don't have a degree in Disney? Then how did you get past the written exam and background check to participate on these boards? Security!

I have no idea who Figment is, other than a character from a WDW attraction. Have never been on it, don't really know why but I think the lack of interest in a dinosaur (?) called Figment may be a reason. Does Figment just belong to WDW parks? Or is he a popular character generally in the States?

Poor Figment.
He doesn't get the Love he deserves anymore. I remember when he was practically Future World and Epcots mascot. I'm afraid he and his attraction will be extinct soon. Better buy your Figment Plushes and pins while you can. They may not be around much longer.:(

I'm sorry I don't understand, I know Figment is part of an attraction at Epcot but thats all, is that ok? I definitely know he's not from Dr Suess!

I've heard kids mistake Figment for Spyro. Which I don't get.

They look nothing a like.

But Dr.Seuss? They must of fell asleep the whole ride though. Which I can understand.
