From a Park to POFQ for lunch ?

Hello,

I wanted to see some opinions about getting from a Park (haven't decided if it will be AK or DHS) to POFQ for the sheer purpose of eating at Sassagoula? Then trying to navigate back to my resort (SoG) to freshen up and then heading to Epcot for the evening. Is this ridiculous and do you think it will take up too much time? Our first FP isn't until 3:55 and its on Spaceship Earth (which last time I was there you don't really need a FP anyway)

It's definitely doable, and the floatworks is a pretty cool place for red beans and rice.

If you haven't done it before, the boat ride from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney/Disney Springs is actually really pleasant, especially since a lot of the journey takes you away from visible buildings and development. It can be a nice change of pace. From Disney Springs you can then catch a bus back to Shades of Green and from there back to a park.

You are probably looking at about an hour and a half of waiting for/riding in buses, though.

Its one of those that if everything falls into place, you could do it easily. But on the other hand, it could be one of those days and you just miss busses etc, and it ends up taking a long time in transit.

We made our way from HS to POFQ to pick up some beignets about 12:30 and then took the boat to DS. We waited about 10 mins for a bus and it was about a 10/15 min journey. We waited for the boat for about 15 minutes and it was a fun, leisurely way to get to DS-took about 15 minutes or so. After a wander round the shops we got the bus back to the Contemporary about 4ish. We didn't wait long for a bus but it was a longer ride back, but then it was a fair distance.

Thanks for all of this advice everyone! Really want to check it out, guess I will have to play it by ear in terms of how our day is moving.

How about using Uber? It's much cheaper than a taxi, you could bus from the park to POFQ, eat and then Uber to SOG!
That would keep your oop expenses to a minimum, yet getting you back to SOG easily and quickly.
You could then bus to Epcot...
That way you would avoid all the convoluted travel you need to do to get from POFQ to SOG...

Thats a good idea! Didn't think of that. I've never used uber ever in my life so that would take some getting used to!

It's really easy...
You need to download the app prior to your trip. Then whenever you're ready to use the service you notify Uber via the app. It drops a "pin" as to where you are and you type in the destinnation. You will get a text message with a photo of the driver, the make. Model and year of car, the license plate # as well as the cost. Everything is done online so you don't have to give the driver money or worry about change. (Although a tip is not expected, I always have a few $ to give to the driver as I get out if all was excellent)
Also, check out online coupons for uber prior to your trip. There's a lot of 50% off for first time users.
Since Uber came to NYC and CT I've not used a taxi since. The cars are always immaculate and I like that I have the extra safety of drivers name and lic#. I always forward that info to my DH if he's not with me. It makes me feel a little safer!
Have fun!

Thanks so much for the explanation! Doesn't sound too terribly difficult and I like how it seems to have better security measures than a random taxi driver!

Can Uber P/U and drop off at SOG?

If you have time, I would walk to the Poly, and then monorail over to EPCOT via the TTC. We did that many times when we stayed at SoG.
