"Frida" to Lead a US Contingent

ROME (Variety) -- Miramax's "Frida" -- tracing the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and her troubled relation-ship with fellow painter Diego Rivera -- will open the 59th Venice Intl. Film Festival (Aug. 29-Sept. 8). Director Julie Taymore and star Salma Hayek will accompany the competition entry.

Good for Salma... she is getting what she wanted! Despite of being a terrible actress!

I still have to see that film though... I have heard so many mixed comments about it!
