I want to stay at the POFQ resort in November but I'm worried about the pros and cons of staying there. I've stayed at all the value resorts and the Coronado and I want to try something new. Help me decide. I'll be traveling with myself, my husband, and my 3 kids 18,3 and1 year. I really like the small-ness of the resort but I also heard it uses the same bus system as Riverside?! please tell my me pros and cons of this resort .:confused:

Absolutely love this resort, we are going this year with our twin girls who are 6. The young ones will love the slide and the playpark. You can hire bikes, go cane finishing enjoy the lovely musician at the Bar. The boat ride down to Downtown Disney is amazing. It is an stunning, relaxing, lovely environment to take your family, you will thoroughly enjoy it. I feel it is a lovely size resort, not too big, so not too much walking for the kids. You can also go to Riverside to use there facilities if you want too, their pool is lovely too. :sohappy:

We love FQ. It's small quaint and quiet. It's very relaxing after a day at the parks. The food court is nice and the pool is alot of fun too.

We really liked POFQ. We've stayed our last two trips at Coronado, which is great, but for variety we're going back to POFQ this time. It's small and quiet, despite the Mardi Gras/partying theme.

We were there in August 2006, and we shared buses with POR except to Magic Kingdom. The bus ride to MK was shorter than at any other resort I've stayed at (CS, POP, AKL, CB). Buses to other parks took about as long as at Coronado. If I remember right, Coronado had 4 bus stops, and POR & FQ together have 4.

POFQ has one of the better swimming pools. The food court is much less crowded than at POR, but POR's is in walking distance if you want to try it. The selections are somewhat different (I think POR has Tonga Toast).

The boat to Downtown Disney is a nice feature of POFQ. (It goes to POR also, but the trip is shorter each way if you're at POFQ.)

we really enjoyed the bus service and the whole Coronado resort visit didn't have any problems. My only problem would be coming back form the parks. do the resorts share the same bus service on the return like they do a the all stars? we'll be lugging alot of stuff with 2 younger kids in strollers. or do u think we should just drive to the parks? we have our own car and live in florida so it would not be a big rental car problem.

We just got back from a wonderful stay at POFQ. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Bus service to and from Magic Kingdom is dedicated to POFQ. Other buses share with POR, but POFQ is always first on and first to be dropped off. Which means we have never had to stand on the way to the parks or fight for a spot, or wait for another bus.
Oh gees! Here comes the withdrawal again! :brick:

POFQ was the best moderate I have ever stayed at. It's smaller than most and it seemed like the busses stopped at FQ before RS. Going to and coming from the parks.

If we did a moderate again it would be FQ hands down!!!

I've stayed at all of the moderates. If I had to pick again, it'd be CSR for one reason only -- Queen size beds in the remodeled rooms. I am apparently too spoiled to share a double bed. If you can get over that, POFQ is great.

The bus service was a non-issue for us. When the parks were closing, there was generally a dedicated POFQ bus. At other times, sharing meant that buses came more frequently. Either way, not a big deal at all.

The boat ride to DtD is one of my favorite features of POR and POFQ. I greatly prefer the food court at CSR, but that is an acquired taste for sure. Many people hate the Pepper Market. POR's food court is larger and offers more choice than POFQ's, but POFQ's has excellent beignets. No table service restaurant at FQ, but Boatwrights at POR is an easy walk and has good food. Both FQ and POR have great pools. FQ's smallness is nice, and if you want to feel a more spread out environment, walk 7 minutes up the creek and you're in the wide open spaces of POR.

Of course, every Disney resort has something special to offer, and it's hard to go wrong. But you'll enjoy FQ just fine, I suspect.

Nice to hear all the positive reports on the French Quarter as it's my resort of choice for next year. One look at the gators and the pool and I knew my son would love it, throw in the fact that the grounds will really appeal to the missus and we have a winner.

My wife and I stayed there in Feb of 08 and loved it. We might have gone to POr maybe 25% of the time and it was mostly during the middle of the day never at closing. The only time I remember going to POr in the mornig was the day we went to Animal Kingdom and we took our time and left around 930 or 10. The park is actually closer to MK than you think so that is a short ride. Being from New Orleans and growing up in th ereal French quarter, I thought I might be skeptical of staying here and the theming but it was very nice. We love the resort. The only way we wouldn't stay again is if we decided to try another resort for variety sake.

We stayed at POFQ for our honeymoon and are returning this October for our anniversary. :D We loved every bit of the resort! It was surprisingly quiet and very lovely to walk around at night. The bus service was fine, and I liked that the buses stopped at our resort prior to POR. One other thing I noticed was at the theme parks, the walk to the bus stop didn't seem too far. POFQ was typically right in the middle, the exception being Disney Studios (I remember walking a bit further to that stop.)

All in all I'm sure you'll really enjoy the resort!

Hate to just repeat what's already been said, but POFQ great. Stayed there last August and loved it. Great for adults and kids for all the reasons already stated - small size, short walks, great pool, nice theming, nice food court, no standing on buses, boat ride to DTD, short walk or boat ride to POR and Boatwright's, etc. You'll love it!

No need to repeat but all things mentioned before make this resort GREAT!

FYI: Buildings 4 & 5 are closest to the bus stop (not that any are really that far). 4 is non-water view only, but if you're interested in that sort of thing, building 5 has pool view, river view, and non-water view (standard) rooms. We were in building 4 our last trip (how appropriately it was our 4th trip) and we never even went back into the lobby-either popping over to the food court or a short path to buses/parking and a very descent courtyard view.

Adults like the slide too!:p

We stayed there last nov. I found the bus service the pits. Luckily we were one of the first stops so we always got a seat but, other stops were not so lucky and several times the driver passed stops by because we were completely full. Also, leaving Epcot every evening our bus que was four rows deep waiting while other resorts were empty. Someone mentioned it was new england fall break? Guess there really is no off season. Also, when checking in you should have someone lead you to your room or be destined to wander arround a bit till you get your bearings straight. Other than that, we found it very enjoyable.
