Does anyone know which type of potato Disney uses and what oils they use for cooking. It is imperative to my culinary experience that I know this before I get there as I wouldnt want to be conned into paying for an inferior potato.

Yes, well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but those aren't potatoes. Disney fries are made from the leftover plant materials discarded each year at the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival. That sweet potato-y taste? Begonias that have been prepared through a secret process, similar to the type of thing that they put chicken parts through at KFC. In fact, the CM's like to call it "The Mouse's Secret Recipe" as a homage to the Colonel. Fact: frozen leftover plants are the reason that WDW is the world's largest consumer of electricity.

Oh, and as to the oil used in cooking, it's actually the acne "juice" harvested from all of those still-developing College Program inductees. Fact: the U.S. government has awarded WDW with a top secret grant to figure a way to use the same materials to power automobiles by the year 2050. It will be called "awkwardstagefuel".

Well, my work here is done. I'm glad to have once again served as the wdwmagic "insider" for all of you good people.

Thanks for the "insider" knowledge!
Sad thing is, someone will believe all of this!

Scenario 1: Walt Disney World potato procurement specialists inspect potato crops and accept only the finest russet Burbank potatoes grown in Idaho. No other potatoes are acceptable as they do not have the firmness and full favor of the Idaho potato. The Idaho potatoes are hand cut into French fries by Disney potato preparation chefs in the Disney meal preparation center. They are lightly fried to a golden brown using only the highest quality canola oil made from rapeseed grown and hand harvested in North Dakota.
Scenario 2: Disney buys cooking oil and precut fries from wholesalers who offer the lowest price.

As I said on another thread it is truly amazing the information that this site can produce.

Though it is sad we have to check the ingredients to find out if there are actually any potato in the chips.
