So, just a heads up if you're visiting the parks, they just began beta testing free wifi. Right now, it covers all guest areas in Universal Studios Florida, except the Transformers queue and a couple of hard to cover areas in the park. It does not cover the backstage areas where the queues for many Horror Nights houses are set up.

The network is much faster than Disney's guest wifi and seems to be more reliable. The beta test will continue indefinitely while the network is being improved in USF to cover the other areas of the park. Islands of Adventure will also get a wifi network, but it is not in beta yet.

So, bottom line, try out the free wifi next time you're in USF!

Wifi is great, we love it, but as soon as they start with having to book dining reservations 6 months out, book FP's from home, and rfid chips in the drink cups, it's time to start looking for yet ANOTHER vacation site.....:(

Universal has no intention of going the MDE route. They will be rolling out a new UOR App, but it will be for current wait times, show and parade times, and in queue entertainment. Like videos of how the ride was made and clips from the movie the ride that you are queueing for was based on. Like while waiting for Transformers, you may be able to watch "deleted scenes" from one of the Transformers movies. Or the trailer for the upcoming Mark Wahlberg Transformers.

I hope the hotels also start to offer free wi-fi. Heck, I'll settle for simply wifi at this point, I don't mind paying a small fee to use it.

I was there for opening weekend of HHN and the 3rd weekend and the wifi was up and had some great speeds inside the park. Id imagine those speeds will diminish once word goes mainstream

Just a quick update, the mobile web version of the HHN Wait Times now works when you are in the park. The address is: http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/wait-times.html It won't show you the wait times if you are not in the park though. Just FYI. So bookmark it on your phone and take a look when you go to the park! They update the wait times every 30 minutes, and it also shows the times of the next shows for Bill & Ted and Rocky Horror.
